PDR Twin Turbo Installation Questions

For those that installed a set of PDR twins, did you have to re-clock your turbos? Mine had the oil drains op top, supplies on the bottom. I assume it was this way for single-turbo applications.



Installation starts tomorrow... I should have lots of pictures come Saturday night

Yup, you'll need to align them on the truck to get the pipes just right.

Okay, cool... just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something dumb Aligning the HT3B was no problem... but the snap ring on the 40 was being a pain. I don't have the right spanner wrench, and the pliers kept slipping off. Putting a couple of weld tacks on the ends of the tabs gave the pliers something to bite into.

I'm not positive, but I think swapping the trans out last year was easier

Thom, the main thing to remember on the snap rings is to just squeeze it a a little then rotate the front cover to were you want it, if the snap ring comes off it can be a pain to put back on but I do have it down quite well with two screw drivers... ... . first time took 45 min at least :{

Yeah - I somehow got it off with the channel locks, and was having a hell of a time holding it compressed to get it back in place. That's when the welder came out, and then it was easy to hold it closed and drop it back in. It was after that when I realized that I just needed to squeeze it a bit, and the housing would rotate.



Sa far, I'm pretty impressed with the completeness of the kit. A couple of little things were missing (like a section of 5/8" heater hose), and some mounting hardware (this was my fault - the kit assumes you're replacing stock components, and to re-use some of that hardware. I already had a different turbo, so some of the mounting nuts needed to be replaced). That's what hardware and auto parts stores are for.



Well, time to begin day two of the installation. Hopefully, all the major work can be completed today.

Oh, I wish... we spent about 4 hours or so today (of actual work - once you subtract the time spent chasing down parts that turned out to be unneeded, lunch, and just general goofing off). New links include the bottom turbo installation, and the beginning of the cold piping. It's coming along nicely, but unfortunately this means I'll be back in my V10 for a few more days. It could be worse... I could be driving a Ford
