Got a PE Comp installed on my truck today and all I can say is - WOW!
Would have tried to get the new DDII's in at the same time but left the dang instructions at work - hence my other thread... Guess that'll have to wait until next weekend.
Results: Experimented some with the different settings but I'm getting away with some WOT (empty) 1/4 mile runs without EGT problems at level 5x5, probably due to the BHAF and 4" exhaust. Without terrorizing the neighborhood too bad, a couple of passes show an honest 2 second reduction and 7mph increase in 1/4 mile times, and 0-60 times came down from 11 to 7. 5. This is according to the Pocket Dyno with some really crude conditions and probably inconsistent launching methods.
Low end response improvement is really cool. Now there's a definite kick in the pants even before the turbo spools up.
With just the box installed (yes, I punched the fuel wire), max boost numbers went to 23 or 24. With the wastegate turnbuckled, that shot up to a consistent 32 psi.
As for the still-stock auto transmission - It does not appear to be slipping, but there are some noticeable changes in the transition from pre to post lockup. It feels like a more solid "shift", if that's possible. I'm not real knowledgeable about autos, but am pretty sure I'll have to tone the "box" down when the injectors go in. I think the DTT toys will have to happen in a hurry after that.
Gosh, but it's hard to keep a foot out of that throttle!
Thanks for all the good technical info you guys post! You're sure costing me some money...
