A while back I obtained a COMP mounting bracket from ADT. I just now got around to putting it in, and all I have to say is wow. Nice design... . works alot better then I "imagined". I wiretied the wireloom out of the way to get my big foot in there tho... just for safe measure. The neat thing is when your driving, you just glance at the hole on the right side of the steering wheel and you can see the LED's easy. I just drove 3 hours with it, and like I said it was neat lil add on.

Sorry no pictures.

How can I find out more on this braket? Is there a website with a picture? A previous TDR post on it?, etc.

Does it make for a nice clean install? Do your legs hit it when getting in and out of the truck? Details, details please. ;)

Yes there was a picture in a thread a while back.

But with search down, hard to pull it up again for now.

It uses the two screws in the knee bolster to hold the braket. It sits just to the side of the ashtray.

My knees didn't come close to it (sits closer to the ashtray)

I wiretied the looms because my steel toe size 12 boots are kinda bulky... and I thought they "might" interfere.

I thought it was a clean install..... two screws. . and shes done.

Like I said the neatest part that i love about it is looknig through the steering wheel and telling where its at power wise.

Sometimes its the little things that impress ya alot.

Found a picture on ADT's website... . Comp Braket

Bracket

I have a new ADT Comp bracket if someone wants to make an offer... I ended up mounting mine elsewhere.

I mounted mine next to the ashtray as well. I just used velcro strips and stuck it on there. I have never had a problem with it.

I used to have mine "under the ashtray" on velcro strips. It was fine, except when charging my cell phone I lay it in the ashtray. With the temperture "range" here the velcro would come off from time to time, just a pain in the rear.

The braket holds it sold, and like I said its situated perfectly to glance at the hole in the steering wheel to see what level your on.

Hmm, I have mine velcrowed to the left of my ash tray flat against. so the led is pointing more up just befor the curve in the "dash" part. I havent had it come off yet if it does I will be getting a bracket.

Got mine sitting IN the ashtray. Looks better then the velcro I think.

It looks better then it does in this photo...

I finally got around to mounting mine. Its in the ashtray as well.

I wanted to be able to use the remaing space in the tray, so I tried to make it take up as little of the tray as possible. It is mounted to the top and the tray is relieved on one side to allow it to open and close. At night it looks really good b/c the light shines right on the buttons perfectly, they even look green.

I will try to get a night pic, it looks really nice.

How in the world did you do this, and if you say welcro I'm going to pull my hair out because the sticky glue just doesn't cut it in the heat down here in Texas.

:) That is one nice looking job of installing. Good show. Do you have any pic of the process or a description of how you did this. It looks really nice. :D My hat is off to you. :D

I didn't have any velcro kicking around when I did this, plus, I don't think there was enough surface area to use velcro anyway where I have it stuck to, maybe on the top and side would work. I used some 3M doublesided adhesive on the top only. Considering the amount of times that I would remove it, I'll just peel some more off the roll if I have to.

I didn't document what I was doing, just measuring 50x then cutting, then measuring, then cutting... took quite some time.

I would recommend that you use a dremel tool to do the cuts, along with drilling the corners where you want the cuts to end.

If you fracture the plastic, which is really easy to do, drill a hole at the end of the crack to stress relieve it so it can't crack any further. I only did this one time when trying to get things to fit, oh well.

I could make up a drawing in CAD with some precision measurements, would make it easy for anyone to do. Of course everone else would have one that looks much better than my cut and try method ;) If I get around to it, I can pull it out and get the dimensions and some photos of the install. If someone sends me an extra ashtray they happen to have I'll get it done ASAP and photo the install.

That is the BoMB!

Dude, that is the best! I cant wait to get my comp so I can do the same. I dont use my ashtray anyways, and the way you have it mounted, the light shines on the buttons, right? Well done.
