Cermaic Coatings?

question about exhaust brake failure...

Just installed a PE EZ on my DD3-equipped ETH, and man, what a great product. Really smoothed out the idle, and the fueling curve is great. Truck seems a little quieter too, and EGT's dropped as well. With just DD3's, I dynoed at 350, seems like it is close to 390-400 now... #ad

Now I have a bit of a clutch slippage problem to deal with... #ad

Yeah, and what will you do with the money you are saving on fuel? You should realize a 1 to 2 mpg increase (especially since you have to take it easy on the clutch).

Evan... what happened to all of your talk about REAL horsepower, and how these "boxes" are not REAL????????????

Evan, it is interesting how different virtually identical trucks with identical boxes can act so different. You've probably seen my posts on this but when I tried an EZ, it definitely made my engine noisier and not as smooth. Power was great though. There must be enough of a difference in characteristics between boxes and/or engines to cause different results like this.

Evan

I just ordered my EZ. Do you have it on the most aggresive setting with your big stage 3's? How is the smoke? I still have the stock injectors in mine. What should I expect?

I have to agree that timing changes do make the engine sound better. That was the first thing I noticed way back when I added my VA.

That VA is long gone but I hope to replace my hot PE with that new combo unit from the PE skunk works! #ad

Good point, Bob. The VA is a great product, especially now that there are several versions available. I'm going to test a High Output VA and compare it to the PE EZ. I'll be posting results soon! #ad

You got a boost module yet? If not, I may have one for you...

Ramfan,

I can make my truck smoke with the PE on there. Works great for tailgaters!

With a stock truck, expect to see a puff of some at low boost when you get on it. Add some injectors, and the smoke level will increase. Also, you can play with the settings in the PE EZ and get your desired amount of smoke. #ad

Evan, Evan ,Evan... . When we were talking next to MikeRs truck at Cummins, you were telling how these boxes were no good on the pump. They would ruin a pump in no time.
Blah Blah Blah. I was enjoying our talk, you "seemed" like a straight up kinda guy. I know you are one now... .
YES, A BOMBAHOLIC, GET HELP.
Maybe a ProComp box next #ad

Sam, Sam, Sam... The boxes I was talking about are ANY and ALL boxes that tap onto the wires at the injection pump. The other plug-in boxes, such as the VA, PE EZ, etc. all advance the power within Cummins specs. That is, they are not asking the injection pump to do something it is not designed to do... that is what the Blue Box, and others are doing. If connect an oscilloscope (sp?) to the fuel soleniod wire when the "wire clip" boxes are working, you can see exactly what it does. They are basically adding to the duty cycle of the fuel soleniod, thereby adding fuel to each injection pulse. Pretty facinating, really. If you watch the scope on a stock or VA equipped truck, you can see there is just one spike, and that is the duty cycle of the soleniod.

I have seen boxes destroy pumps in not time, in fact, I was driving a truck when it happened. Got real quiet... The main problem with the "wire tap" boxes, is they kill your fuel pressure.

As you know, MikeR has a PowerMax3, which is a wire tap box. I said I won't ever add one to my truck, for the reasons mentioned above. The VA, PE, and others are "safer. "

BOMB SAFE, BOMB SMART.

Evan, Thanks for your reply. I will be looking forward to our next talk. My mistake on which box you installed. I just had my third surgery (arms) and these pain pills mess with my vision. I thought you installed the Power Edge.

Evan... I thought you already had a VA on your truck for a month or so... was it an old one, or the new one for the ETH?
