PE EZ install help

Got my PE EZ yesterday for my 98. 5.

I know this is supposed to be a quick 5 minute install, but I'd guess that's if you know what you're doing.

I'm having trouble locating the triangle shaped data link connector. Supposed to be near the ps pump but it is not obvious to me. Could someone give me a better clue as to what I'm looking for?

If you are talking about the connector on the fuel pump, it's just above the PS pump on the back side (toward the driver) of the VP-44. It's kinda hid behind the intercooler hose going to the intake. Or just reach in on the back of your VP-44 pump and you'll feel the harness.

Is the connector on the pump or is it just a loose end on the wiring harness?

Its a loose end, with a "plug" in it. Just look down towards the powering steering pump, different trucks they are in slightly different locations. Just feel around and look around in that genral area, pretty soon you'll find it. Its not "on" the injection pump.

Irontrader, Alan is correct. In addition, there are two different connectors located just above the lower intercooler hose, one black, one gray. The gray one is the connector you want. Both of the connectors have plugs in them... remove the plug and install the EZ mating connector half. Easy! (no pun intended... really!... just caught it on the proof read #ad
)

PS: you are lucky you don't have one of the later 24v engines... then you would have to look for the appropriate connector near the map sensor. The early ones are extremely easy to disconnect if there is some trouble with the EZ (or DD TTP) modules.

Mine was really low in the engine compartment. Almost easier to see from the ground, looking up.

Success!!!

After getting some light on the area, it was easy to spot the connector hanging down from the harness. Only took a few minutes to hook up the EZ. Took longer to change the boost elbo on the turbo.

I've only driven 20+ miles so far and its great! Over the next 6 days I'll put another 2200+ miles on it as we're going to Colorado on a trip. Hope to meet a Duramax on the road ;-)
