Voiding Of Transmission Warrantee?

What is the differnce of a pe and a pe comp? I want the power but most of my driveing is a mix of in town and freeway empty. Milage gains would be a major plus.

Exactly how much power do you want? The Comp can deliver quite a bit of power, but will fry your transmission if it is not modified. Based on the type of driving you do, it sounds like a PE EZ and a set of injectors would be perfect... Stage 1's or 2's from Diesel Dynamics + a PE EZ would give you excellent power, reasonable EGT's, plus good fuel economy.

Anything more than a PE EZ, and you should consider tranmission upgrades.

Cost Analysis

If cost/value is the priority then the Comp is going to provide you with the most for the least.

*The PE EZ is a plug in box that provides 65/75 hp at 2000 rpm.

*The PE is a box that taps the pump wire and is more work to install. It's being replaced by the Comp.

*The Comp is a combination of both boxes in one neat unit. You can run with the EZ low end fueling by itself, or tap the pump wire for about a combined 135 hp at 2700 rpm. The programming on the Comp is awesome. You have five main levels, with further adjustability(five sub-levels) of the low end fueling in each of the five main levels. The Comp is much less then the PE and EZ purchased separately.

With just about anything you do, you would benefit by upgrading the transmission. At least install

a valve body to help hold the clutches from slipping.

The pe comp is the latest, greatest and has 5 levels of power increase compared to the 3 levels of the earlier model. I am currently running on level 3 and find it more than adequate. I have the performance increase figures from Edge for the comp that they sent in response to my e-mail. Definite improvement in mileage, and noise level is quieter according to my wife. Your driving habit seems to fit very close to mine.

do you have to set the pe with jumpers under the hood? This is what i have heard and the pe comp has remote controls for in the cab. Is this right? Also what kinda milage gains are poeple getting?

Making Adjustments

The PE(Power Edge) is a three level box that has a single button for changing levels.

The PE EZ is the first plug in device to offer adjustability for SMOKE control. This type of device can produce a fair amount of smoke on the bottom end when used in conjunction with larger injectors. To perform the SMOKE adjustment, the face is removed and a jumper is moved to one of three positions. This adjustment can also eliminate the fueling all together, leaving you with just the timing feature. This adjustment is different from the change on the fly power level adjustment the PE and Comp offer.

The Comp is by far the most sophisticated of the three. With the Comp you have the change on the fly capability for the high end fueling as well as smoke control on the low end.

We don't make any mileage claims. I have heard conflicting reports although those towing are the ones reporting better mileage.
