Peddle feel with EGR disc brakes

My peddle travel is a lot more than with the stock drum brakes and the peddle feels spongy. I'm thinking there is still some air in the lines but I haven't been able to get anymore out. The truck seems to stop fine and I didn't get the ABS light coming on like others have. Anyone else had this experience?



I don't have the E-brake setup yet. The parts they provided don't work

Unhook the brake line at the master cylinder for the rear brakes. Take a piece of wire and see if the opening going into the cylinder has a check valve. If it does not. The you migh want to add one. Wilwood makes some. With new calipers. They can retrack all the way by them selfs. You need to have a little back pressure to hold the pistons out.

Mine do the same thing. Halp a pump of the peddle and the feel like they should. I'll be getting the check valves...

Hey Philip,



The calipers are self adjusting through the E-blake cable. The more I think about this I believe an adjustment with the e-brake levers might hepl the travel. Unfortunately the documantaion from EGR is lacking (i'm trying to be kind)



I'll look into the check valve.



Do you know if there are different SRW hubs for the Dana 70 i. e. differences between say a 2-1/2" drum vs a 3" drum etc. ?

The only difference I can think of is the dual hubs will have the coins to center the dual wheels on. On the single srw I think the hubs are the same. There have been a lot of people on here that have switched to 3' drums and have not said anything about hub problems.



The adjustment part of those calipers is on the marginal side to say the least. In the warm climate you are in. It will be all right. In the rust belt where I am. Rusting of the adjusting setup together was a problem on the cars these calipers came out on.
