Never did hear anything more about the class action. WBusa is right, in that on most class actions, if successfull, (that's a big if) take a LOOOONG time and rarely benefit the little people (us). Attorneys make the bucks. Was worth a try though.

Thats what we need guys, some kind of proof from DC that says the simple words about the primer being replaced b/c it was defective. Something like that... Then its an easy win in court Anyone have any of that info?

I was going to buy another 12 valve but after reading this post i'm not sure. any way to tell if you're going to have one of these bad paint jobs or not. my 94 is still looking perfect. hate to buy an older truck and then spend a fortune on a quality paint job cause if you're gonna do it right the entire truck needs to be stripped down and start over if your planning on keeping one for 20 yrs. like me.

Cedwards,

mine sounds a like like Mikes. I didnt see the cracks, but bubbles or pimples everywhere. they are real small pin head size, and you can feel them if you rub your fingers on them. the entire front of my truck is covered. It stated a year or two ago I dont exactly remember when. I first noticed it when I was waxing my passenger door.

Oh yea, chrysler said it was because I didn't wash and wax.

Every paint expert I have talked to validates what Mike said. Primer failure!!

$1600 to repaint... I drove around for three years with peeling paint on the roof and hood. It only peeled on the horizontal surfaces. I could not afford a factory quality paint job (base coat clear coat) so I had to go with the single stage paint with a 3 year warranty from Carcoa. They charge more for two tone. Truck looks good with a bunch of attention to detail screw ups. I have to go back and get a bunch of little things cleaned up. I always washed and waxed regularly and yet the paint still peeled. My 97 suburban is black and you would think that black would have more problems than a blue truck, but it looks great. They both have around 138,000 miles on them. I have yet to understand how a truck that can't fit in most garages and will be outside most of the time could have its mileage effect whether or not the paint decides to stay on the truck. Seems to me it should not matter what the mileage is, just the age would be important.
