Beta Testing Help

So, I am working/toying with a project.

The project is a system like what LEXUS and other highlines have, a smart key that will sense you and unlock the doors and then allow starting of the vehicle without a key. The key would stay in your pocket.

The better question, would anyone even buy it?!?!?

I know after driving a lexus for a few days, it was REALLY nice.

Though, quesitons, comments??? :-{}

this kind of feature is not something i'd buy personally, but there are MANY cool things i don't buy that sell like hotcakes.

i can clearly see it's potential.

i think it'll sell and say go for it.

I think it would be cool.

The one thing I miss most from my F150 was the key pad to unlock the doors. How about designing one of those as well. I found one aftermarket but when you call them they tell you not to put it in as it has a 50% failure rate.

So either would be cool. I would say the recognizing key w/big start button with a key pad when the key is in the house and you want to get into your truck. Oo.

We borrowed a friend's Toyota Prius and it had that feature. Very handy. Not sure I'd pay much extra for it though-- I'm too cheap. :-laf

I would sure like to have one...

But I would think it would be expensive to deal with the steering-column lock.

If it was integrated with an alarm system, then I may purchase one if it's not too expensive.

well the cool part is adding stuff like that is the easy part because all you are doing is cutting power to a lead when there is no signal from fob...

The hard part is the sentry key (one), two the steering lock, and three is wiring to existing system

But hey, if it was easy I would not have a guy in hong kong doing it (yes, hong kong - where these systems are VERY common on cars)

Compustar 2-way remote starters will automatically lock/unlock your doors when your within a certain range if you choose to turn that function on. I tried it for a while but old habits are hard to break so since I kept hitting the button anyway I just turned it off.

thanks for the info - might be a good building block as well as a source for possible RF pcb's
