After a couple of hours of research looking for an acceptable oil for my NV5600 transmissions I've found only 2 that meet the factory requirements beside the Morpar Manual Transmission fluid # 4874464.
That being an Amsoil product and the Pennzoil product... after 3 calls to Amsoil distributors for their Synchromesh Transmission fluid 30W and finding none on the shelf in town... . I finally called my local napa store... . $7. 64 a qt and they had 5 qts in one store and the other 20 stores and the DC didn't have it in stock... . we than called at least 4 other suppliers in Spokane WA and we found 1 independent parts store with 1 qt on the shelf... . not enough to change the oil... . Shucks and Autozone = 0 on the shelf... .
The Pennzoil web sight actually shows the Mopar part number as an interchange for their product... and the Amsoil sight sort of implied it would work... .
I also found a report done by a guy who is using 15W-30 Mobil 1 15,000 mile engine oil in his transmission with good results...
Thought this was interesting since we have close to 300,000 people in this town with 2 of the largest Dodge dealer within 90 minutes of here... . Dave Smith and Dishman Dodge...
BTW - I see this as an oil post, not a transmission post... hope its in the right place.
