So I've read a lot of threads regarding this problem and I am about ready to give up. I cleaned the EGR valve, EGR cooler and replaced the filter. I followed the process very closely for resetting the light (I have the pushbutton start) and the message center showed NO STORED MESSAGES. But then when I start my truck the PERFORM SERVICE message comes back on. So, I followed the process again, cleared the message and when I started my truck it came back again. I've done this several times, like an insane man, and same result! What am I missing? Is there a lot of things that bring in this message? Do I need to break down and take it to the dealer?

Exactly what did you do to remove the message?
I have pushbutton start on my truck, so if you have keyed ignition it will be different. After I did the repairs, I got in the truck and closed the door; I pressed the start button twice without pressing the brake; then I pressed the brake really hard twice; then I pressed the accelerator all the way to the floor slowly twice; pressed the button once; started the whole process again... button twice, brake twice, accelerator twice, button once; then I opened and closed the drivers side door. The message would go away until I started the truck again, and it would come back.
Then today while waiting on my kid at school, out of sheer frustration, I thought I would try it one more time.... and as sure as there is a God in heaven... it worked that time! That was 3 hours and 4 starts ago and the message has not came back. So, I guess, even though it seems INSANE, just keep trying it... I think I probably did it 8 times over the course of 3 days!

I had trouble with this on my ‘14. I don’t have push button, but I followed the step by step in the manual for my truck. I tried multiple times a day for a couple weeks with no success. My first visit to TCDiesel I asked Todd about it. He tried multiple times and it did not work. Then he tried a different method/sequence which involved opening and closing the driver door and it actually worked. Why can’t they just put a reset option in the menu like they do for oil and fuel?
