This would be for a normal person unlike myself. Right now I'm looking more at an Edge with Attitude for the simple fact it has gauges ect with it, not to mention the de-fuel capability.

The truck is an 04' with a stick and he is looking more for towing power and economy, not for a barn burner.

Thanks, Jim

Jim

Banks PowerPDA is the Only programmable Fueling and shifting that I know of Ver 1. 5 Available at T&C Banks No longer offers it.

I installed a BD Tow-Pro, which I beleive is a rebadged Edge EZ on my wife's 2003. It puts down 349 RWHP and gets 18 mpg combined driving.

for the majority of people its hard to beat the EJA simply because its clean, looks good, functions good, TONS of cool features, and lots of safety and adjustabilty. Ive installed many of them but never on a NON 325 HP motor. The 03/04's use pressure and dont know how they work compared to the 325's?

Jim,

I have the Banks Ottomind6 PDA on my '03 6spd. It has defueling, gauges, an economy setting, and a nice color screen. I think it works great for towing, but I have not compared it to any other "boxes".

how bout just an EZ and mechanical gauges? that would be my pick. i prefer gauges but it would be nice to have that clean little unit instead sometimes.

You can't go wrong with a Smarty and a set of gauges. I ran it on my last truck and loved it... I'm getting another one soon.

Loaned my Smarty to a friend with 03' 6spd. He's now trying to convince the wife it's needed for "Safety".

The problem with the smarty is that it can be alot of power (or torque) for a person wanting just a little more. I programmed mine in an 05 and in the 30 HP program it would blow through the clutch in 4th gear, EJA wouldnt and the truck towed ALOT day in and day out (22-24K combined!) with the EJA without a hickup.

The TST is also a good choice but it doesnt have the fit and finish nor the features as the EJA, even though the rail pressure limit on the newer boxes is pretty cool!

Mileage and Towing?... Quad XZT and Commander. And it'll still turn them dual wheels over on dry pavement. Will be getting the upgrade next week to add the Mileage Max download... 90 day guaranty for 7% to 12% increase in fuel mileage!:)

I have used all of the above chips, except for the newer Van AAken stuff. On a six speed truck, hands down the smarty is the way to go. I have had better fuel mileage increase with it than any other thing I have used or sold. And the egts are very good for the power it provides. On an automatic truck, I would probably say the Edge Juice with Attitude because it is one of the safest chips for the transmission. But I haven't been too impressed with fuel mileage or power from the edge. The attitude is a nice piece though.

Keep it on the mild TQM softwares (the one's that come on it) and you shouldn't have an issue. On moderate or wild, you'll probably see some issues towing with the stock clutch.

The EJA is a wonderful performer. It's also easily adjustable unlike the Smarty, and I do find myself adjusting it up and down a lot to control the smoke levels. When it gets hot outside there's more smoke, so I turn it down. When I'm someplace ritzy like Beverly Hills I turn it down. If it starts to rain and I'm worried about traction I turn it down. When I can get by with it I turn it up. I could never live with the set it and forget it nature of the Smarty. I just purchased the van Aaken C5 + Commander for the alleged customizability, but the custom software isn't out yet, and the Edge already provides more power than I can use on a daily basis.

I really like my Quadzilla XZillaraider with the Commander. But, it is really about the same as the Edge Juice with Attitude. Pretty much the same power levels and adjustability. I chose the QZilla because I like their customer service and they gave me a great price.
