Recently purchased a 2005 Ram 3500 HO six speed which I use for towing a heavy 5th wheel. Looking for some ways to improve the performance without major changes or additions. Had a Banks Stinger on my 2001 but would like to "tweek" the Ram in other ways.

Got any ideas?

NStates--

You'd get better responses if you posted this in the "3rd generation- engine, etc" or "General diesel topics: parts and accessories" forums-- those get the most traffic.

Personally, I'd call Don M at Formula 1 diesel and follow his recommendations.

As always, you'll need gauges first, then you can consider HP upgrades.

The TST box is probably plenty-- just respect it enough not to turn it all the way up and the turbo will live. I've heard that the newer boxes are milder so as to not torch the turbo. TST makes some good stuff.

The EDGE juice/attitude is a pretty good combo as well.

Interesting challenge

So what's the budget for this project??

I still say get the EGT's down before any boxes are added... especially the TST. These trucks just get more fuel than what's safe unless you don't tow & even then I'm sckeptical.

Gauges first... twins next... clutch third & TST last. That's the safest order IMO.

Was in the same shoes as you, had an 01 with Banks Stinger. Only got rid of it for the 6sp and extra doors. Your 01 feels like it had more power than your new one I bet, mine did. Went with the Juice/Attitude have no complaints. Feels more like the old truck did.

Yep before BOMBs I would do something about the intake (AFE filter or similar QUALITY Non-K&N air filter), lose the cat, and then preferably upgrade the turbo to a BD Super B/S300, Jammer, PDR40, etc.
