As you may have already noticed, I'm new here, so Hi to all...

I have been subscribing to TDR for 3 years now and reading the posts on here but I never had the ambition to set up a screen name until now, so I'm new, but not ignorant (open for debate... )

Any, to the matter at hand: I have asked numerous people who make/sell the performance intakes and everyone has told me that they won't fit a 1st gen Ram, but no one seems to know why. I know the tube from the intercooler to the intake comes in at a different angle in the newer trucks, but thats the least of my worries.

So...

a) has anyone here done it?

b) is it even possible?

c) if not, what's the restricting factor, and what can I do to remedy it?

PDR sells ASA intakes. Basically, they take the stock accordion hose and replace it with a piece of stainless or aluminized steel (I'm not sure, but it's something along that line), with a rubber/ silicone boot at each end.

I installed a 2ndGen intercooler, complete with the 2ndGen 12V intake horn. Dropped EGT lots, and may or may not have given me any MPGs.

1stgen.org is a good place to ask about performance stuff. Sadly, these trucks are old enough, with small enough production numbers, that many companies just dont want to be bothered by a few hundred sales. SO, that forces us to become a DIY operation- many have fabbed up their own intake and intercooler systems.

Someone said they thought the brake master cylinder got in the way, but he wasn't sure if thats what the problem was he just "knew it wouldn't fit. " Looking under my hood, I somehow find it hard to believe the master cylinder would even come close. He finished with "I don't remember what, but I know something gets in the way. "

The only thing that got in my way was the holes in the core support being mal-placed :D.

If you put a stock 1stGen intercooler system on a nonIC 1stGen, I think the placement of the intake runs afoul of the brake master cylinder. With your 93, it isnt an issue- the hole in the intake is farther forward.

Definitely possible, and in production. Have a look here ASA Modifieds; any questions please feel free to reply or call. To order them please contact PDR at PDR Diesel Performance; PDR is the exclusive distributor for ASA Intakes. TRD member TWorline sells the CoolerTubz - good stuff.

I've got Tims intake on mine - looks great. I will see how it preforms when I go to Idaho in May. I will have a copy of Tims Air filter to turbo intake in about a week. Will try to post pics when it's done.

I think ANY ATS, Banks, CFM, AFE will fit. The only thing that will change is the exact spot of the inlet.

I am running a Banks 3rd gen high ram which is a 3. 5" inlet... ... ... the biggest I could find.

Bolted right on.

I think all others are 3" inlets.

The ATS might be a bit tall just looking at pictures... ..... not sure.
