In the Performance Mods sticky posting I noticed the 16cm housing is a stage 1 upgrade, and by the end of stage 2 upgrades it says the auto transmission is pushing the limits. The HX35 turbo upgrade is listed in stage 3.

I ordered the PDR HX35/16cm housing combination to replace my turbo. Does this mean I have to keep a weather eye on my auto transmission?

Thanks again everyone on this board.

personally i think u should keep an eye on it any way, they tend to fall apart (our trucks where a test trucks... the problems that we see the new trucks usally don't see... . except for the trans. falling aprat) GET A SIX SPEED manaul

No.

It refers to how you use the truck. Towing/street racing/hole shots/burn-outs etc.

... ... . as you add HP to your truck you will have the urge/ability to do the above. If you have a stock auto and are pushing 370hp you can tear it up if you insist using that level of power often.

I seldom perform the above maneuvers with my factory transmission 'couse she will grenade. I drive it like I'm ... ..... 40 and heading to Wed. night mass. If you wanna do the above, you'll need to do some tweaking, however that level of tweaking seems to be an area for debate. A full race transmission is worth more than my truck... . how about you?

I'd just upgrade the flex and converter and drive it sensibly. Pushing the limit only when u havta.

Like say when the WIFE ISN"T WITH YOU!!!!!! :D

Good transmission PM will be vital.

What are the recommended parts to upgrade the flex and converter?

Again. . it depends on what you want to do w/said truck.

A '94 (?)model truck flex seems to be the popular choice for us every day guys. Those who want to run an eleven second 1/4 mile there are high $$ billet.

A converter would be one which is tighter than our stock/factory units. Again, the power level of your truck determines which model of converter will "fit" your application. The higher the HP, the tighter the converter. 89% and 91% are popular. If you spent the $5K for the transmission, you will wish to couple that potential with a triple lock converter Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

Truck; $7k

Drive-line; $12K

See whadda mean?

At this level you will have a set of twins and a P pump. This goes w/out saying.
