Does anyone make a performance VE pump. I'm not talking about a pump with the fuel screw turned all the way in. I need a pump that can put out some fuel.

You could also contact Columbus Diesel Supply in Columbus Ohio or Mountaineer Diesel in Charleston West Virginia. I think they can build custom pumps.

Custom VE

The local pump shop builds 'em. The tech I spoke with told me what they do,so, I'll do whatever mods I can do myself :D

Was happy to learn that my truck has the updated pump installed.

Updated Pump?

 Huh? WHat exactly is the "updated" pump? I thought I had the original pump on my 11/90 pickup, but I looked at an 89 3/4 ton last month, and the throttle shaft set up looked way different. Mine looks just like my 92s & 93s. Delivery vlaves are different from the 91. 5 and up, though. Another member I PM'd about his EDMs mentioned the older ones running a lower pressure and bigger lines than the intercooled ones.

Wentland Diesel built and installed mine - look at my numbers. I have to admit that I've tweaked it even more but with Old Smokys eccentric I am seeing over 350 RWHP. I plan on some additional changes this coming spring. BTW you can find Wentlands contact info in our vendor section.

Updated pump

The term updated is diesel jargon. Boy, I'm going from memory here. There are three versions of the VE used on our truck engines. There may be more out there used in other applications, however, the other brand names of pump manufacturers were installing their pumps in the ag and industrial 5. 9 not pickup truck applications. So I doubt if there are any other applications for our VE.

With that said. There are some minor changes made to these "three" available pumps used on our truck engines. I cannot give ID numbers. I cannot give specific changes. Basically, the internals of the rotor/head are a bit different as well as some other minor changes. Looking on the side of the head u find the ID tag. This is where u can locate what version pump you have. I wrote the numbers down and have them here... ... ... ... somewhere.

An injection pump technician/pump shop employee can probably tell you the specifics. Sorry, I can't.

If you find your truck has a pump without paint, it's a chance you have an updated version of some degree.

I spoke with Wentland diesel the other day about their VE pump rebuilds. They are onl building one pump for our trucks now. It is a stock rebuild but they will turn up fuel 10% if you request. I did not think to ask if they just do this with the full fuel screw or whether it is accomplished internally.

Hey just wanted to tell all of you guy's thanx for the info. I cant believe that I didn't join sooner. I talked to my mechanic today and he called Nascar Mark at PDR and got the scoop for a performance ve pump. Supposedly it should gain another 30 horses to the rear wheels.

I cant imagine what another 30 horses will do. I have a luc pro gold clutch will see if she holds. That goes for the gutrag and my rearend to. I just have to cross my fingers. I guess if they go I'll just have to break down and buy a new one. Naw who wants one of those new computer controlled ones. I must say they sure do ride nice though.

I'll just keep mine and beef it up.

Ive had good luck with my Luk Pro Gold clutch. Im in the procese of rebuilding my Getrag (3rd and 4th gears are missing some teeth)After looking at my clutch im very happy with it holding up to 85,000 miles of abuse. Ive allready orderd another to replace it. The clutch had life left in it but wile i have the trans out i thought id go ahead and change it.
