Just a quick reminder that we posted a TDR Vendor Promotions/ Group Purchase in the Classifed ads through June 30, that may interest some who are looking to enhance their vehicles paint or fiberglass finish using the "Perma Shield Finish Guard System".

A number have taken advantage of it, and we'd be happy to help more. If you've any questions, we can answer 'em here !

The ad is # 2991, in the Vendor Promotions / Group Purchase category, "Finish Guard for your Dodge"

Thank You!

Dealer 5 Year sealant believable ?

Some have mentioned that the selling dealer for the vehicle made the claim that their paint sealant was "5 Years of Protection"?

Did anyone reading this hear that, and believe it or not?

Admittedly, if put in that way, it seems too good to be true. Is there really anything that can last 5 years as a finish protector ?

It has a lot to do with "semantics", parsing of words, like a certain former high political official who had trouble defining what the definition of "is" , is!

Enough for now, I'm just curious what folks have heard from a new vehicle dealer as to promises of performance for their proposed sealant.

David

How it works

Blake,

You pretty much apply it like a wax product, the chief difference being that it doesn't dry into a stubborn crust like many waxes do, thus reducing effort level significantly. It makes it a fairly easy prospect to do a large truck or RV.

It forms a synthetic co-polymer layer that is sunlight UV, weather & water resistant, to a much higher degree than waxes.

The Perma Shield Finish Guard (or dealer applied high quality sealant such as: Perma Plate or Perma Guard) is much less water soluble and heat sensitive than either Carnauba or Parafin based waxes, resulting in not only a beautiful appearance, but a durable one.

As to prep, simply wash vehicle well to remove bugs, dirt & road grime. The Finish Guard contains a special combinations of finish conditioners that non-abrasively remove oxidation & rejuvinate the paints natural luster in the case of a not-quite so new rig.

Many new vehicle dealers offer it as a "paint sealant" package at a fairly high price, say $ 300 + average. Their claims of significant finish protection are correct, but sometimes they stretch... ... . a bit and say it "lasts 5 years", or "never needs treatment again", when in actuality, it requires annual re-application. With them, you'll pay $$ up front, then annually upon re-treatment.

Our company specializes in providing this same system to the "do it yourselfer", and has done so for 14 years now. Just recently we made an offer in the TDR classifieds, # 2991 under Vendor Promotions & Group Purchases that may interest some members.

Hope that answers your question.

Commercial Solicitation

DBazley, I don't want to be the grinch, but please refrain from any further commercial solicitation on the Discussion Forums. Answering direct questions (as you've done above) is OK. It is the second post that is on the line. And I had to remove one that was posted earlier today.

We want to help you out as much as we can, and you've been allowed to put a Classified Ad up as well as a thread pointing folks to it. Anything more than that which is "marketing" makes it hard to leave the thread on the boards.

Thanks in advance.

Fair Enough

Robin (TDR Admin),

Fair enough. I was mainly desiring to let TDR members know about the Vendor promotions, and be aware that they have an option they may not have been aware of, in terms of their appearance care for their Dodge trucks and any other vehicles they own.

Many thanks to the TDR website admin for allowing new or prospective vendors (as we are) to post "vendor promotions / group purchases" ads in the website Classified Ads to guage things.

We're not far from starting our banner ad participation on this site, as it is so this can be "official".

In the meantime, I'll try to contain my enthusiasm, and just be willing to answer questions as they may arise, and trust that those who've verified our claims can offer their opinions as they feel led to.

Best Regards, David

Perma-Shield

OK,I never like to talk up a product, but this stuff is FANTASTIC !!!

I ordered from the Perma-Shield website & had the product in my hands in less than a week. Oo.

I washed the truck with the soap included with the package (1oz. :1gal water) then applied the Perma-Shield per instructions. The whole job took about 2 hrs. The truck shines like a new penny & is smoother than a baby's butt. :)

You can really tell if you've missed a spot as you are buffing it out because your towel will really drag.

I am very impressed & would recommend it to anyone who wants a first rate shine.

I am NOT affiliated with Perma-Shield. Just a happy customer. Oo.

wash/wax in sunlight.....

Hi. .

can you wash/wax in sunlight, as i usually wash my vehicles

after the sun goes down far enough so that i can use the house

shade, but don't want to wait overnight and then wax, as a light coating of dust occurs,[ alot of home construction upstream from me]... .

thanks

Technique help

Dave,

Yes you can wash and apply in sun, best if not in the hottest part of the day, especially with a dark colored truck. It need not be total shade though.

In using the Ultra Wash Concentrate mixed according to directions on the label, you'll get the best results just making sure to flood the finish with fresh water to remove the wash mixture after using your wash mitt, sponge, etc.

This helps reduce or eliminate spotting, which can be a problem if you have hard water or are doing it in full sunlight.

As to applying the Finish Guard, I do the touch test: If I can comfortably hold my hand on the vehicle finish without saying "OUCH !", then it's no problem to apply it. If it's "OUCH", wait a bit for less sun.

BTW, do not fear to apply to whole vehicle, then remove it all at once, as it never hardens progressively. Therefore, no need to do small sections as with waxes.

Glad to hear you gentlemen received the Finish Guard System fine. Thanks for your input and reflections (Pun intended) ! Oo.

Regards,

David Bazley
