Perma Shield Questions or Experience, offer extended

I'd like to see if any of you who've tried the Perma Shield Finish Guard System recently had any questions regarding it's use, or wanted to share your thoughts & how it worked for you.



I know from some of your emails / calls & pm's that a good number who got the TDR special have used it and were quite impressed with the results.



As I promised when we spoke, that I'd post here to field any questions that you may or others may have.

to tell the truth, washed my truck this evening, when i received the magic clothes, and since it was real dusty, of course hosed it real good, well about 3 wks ago, i applied Perma Shield, on the whole truck, and i'm impressed with the beading on the truck, i've used various other auto waxes, and the beading wasn't this good ,

but, i'll wait and see how long this lasts, so far i'm happyOo.



and i'm NOT being payed to say above, only MY impression !!!!

Which NYALIC product did you use for the black trim? Did you use one of their prep products before? Can it be applied with a soft cloth?

It works

Try peanut butter. It works. I read about it over on www.vwvortex under there detail section. So I tryed it and it works. I had the white haze on my black trim from waxes I used to use in the past. But not no more since I use Klasse. Try it and you will be impressed. Easy on and easy off. Did you get this white haze from Perma Shield or waxes you had used in the past?

Applying Nyalic to black trim

HEMI-DART: No I did not use their cleaner. I use "Greased Lightening" from SAMS. The object of the cleaner is to get ALL the wax off prior to applying Nyalic. Yes, I used a peice of t-shirt material. You just make sure you keep a wet edge. Maybe a very fine 1" paint brush would have been better.



If I had better spray equipment and place to spray, i'd do the whole truck. This stuff just makes any painted surface or decal just come alive. On most surfaces it is warrented for 10 years, even under water on boats; except fiberglass, 3 years. No problem. I'll spray my RV again in three years. It is worth the$$

Keeping Black trim black / white residue removal

Mr. Hartley,



while others have in the meantime offered some interesting & quite possibily useful suggestions, here's my response to your question regarding the white residue on the black trim.



It's best to treat the black trim on your (our) trucks with your choice of rubber or vinyl protectors (Son of a Gun, Back to Black, etc), first, before using Perma Shield (or any wax or polish) Finish Guard on the finish.



[This would not necessarily be true for those with extreme motor control who can maneuver around the black trim] With a bit of practice, one can come pretty darn close to missing it altogether, then treat the black trim afterwards, making it a toss-up on which you do first.



You can see why we say on the bottle "DO NOT USE ON TEXTURED, UNPAINTED TRIM OR MOLDINGS", but we also realize that you probably didn't intend that, it just kinda got on there in the meantime.



To remove, try applying the vinyl or rubber protector of your choice with a soft to medium bristle brush with a bit of scrubbing motion to the affected area, then wipeing with a cotton cloth to absorb residue. Do that twice and it should take care of it.



This is also a good step because it will tend to remove embedded dirt & dead upper layers of the material & rejuvinate the surface.



The reason behind doing the trim first is that it is then properly moisturized, and any Finish Guard accidentily applied is easily removed leaving no residue.



As to Peanut-butter, I have'nt heard that one before but who knows? I wonder what the wife, kids & neighbors would say if they see me spreading peanut butter on my Dodge !!

I do believe that any veggie oil would do the same thing. The thing of it is that it does not last. During "Love Bug" season here in LA a lot of people spray the frontal area with PAM (Corn oil). Same o same o.

All I know about peanut butter is that I put it on my black trim several months ago to get the wax off I used to use and it has not resurfaced. Didn't have to worry about anybody seeing me try the peanut butter cause I live in the country. Only the dogs saw me. Wife was in the house. But she thinks I have lost it anyway Why I don't know.

... I Perma-Shielded my red 2002 dually a month ago. It does bead water better than the conventional wisdom carnuaba products I've used in the past. So far, I'm 100% satisfied.

lschultz, glad to hear you've escaped the city. So have we !! Glad to hear the Pnut butter works, did you use chunky or smooth. [I am serious here. ] Nevertheless, when you consider how the kids & I love peanut butter, there's not usually any extra left over.



Top Fuel, glad to hear your Red dually is still beading, and that you're happy to chime in with a testimony. Obviously, in a day of skepticism (and rightly so, with every third or fourth pitchman having the rough integrity of Clinton !!), it help to have testimony, as well as the practice of reading claims & offers carefully.



[I've purchased a number of accessories from TDR vendors for my 97 Ram & been quite satisfied and well treated, & would rate a "higher than normal" integrity factor to virtually all the folks I've dealt with from: TST Products, Amsoil, Geno's, Pac-Brake, Rickson, Mag-Hytec / Jim Leonard & Gear Vendors, etc. ]

The Mrs. said that if she catches me useing peanut butter on my truck,she's taking the dog & leaving. I'm going to miss that dog. :--)

Seriously---the permashield works great---I just need to have a steadier hand applying it around the trim etc.

Perma Shield Finish Guard System

I was introduced to Perma Shield Finish Guard System about three years ago at Puyallup fair in Washington. I have used it ever since. It's easy to apply and remove. Lasts quite awhile. I just did my Ram yesterday and it looked liked new. When you are doing a full size Ram with canopy you want something that is easy to use.

Well I washed and waxed by truck last week using Perma Shield and I really am happy with the results.



The truck had not been waxed since last fall, so it had a lot of bug grime and fallout from the fatty acid plant where I work. I washed it with the Perma Shield wash, then used a claybar (from Autozone) which removed tar, dried bug juice, etc. , followed by the Perma Shield wax. It went on and off really nice. It hasn't rained here since, but still looks great. I'll see how it holds up to more inclement weather as time goes on.



Can the magic cloth work with Perma Shield?
