After two years and $3500 I have got a final fix for my auto transmission problems.

I took delivery of my new 01 HO Six speed on thursday the 4th of oct and left on sat the 6th for the gulf coast pulling a thirty ft rv trailer. Just returned yesterday with 2200 miles on the odmometer . No problems and the Ho with the six speed is a great combination for pulling. I always had a gear for whatever road condition that I encountered.

They say break the Cummins in pulling and I did.

Have to change my signature now and start hanging out on the over-valved site.

Congratulations Gene!!

I cured my automatic problems the same way 2 years ago. Couldn't be happier!! It's the perfect combination for towing or hauling heavy loads--always have the right gear and no wide gear splits.

Hey, you'll love it even more when you install an exhaust brake!!!

I think when i have the first major problem with my auto I'm going to see about swapping it out for a manual, maybe the 6 speed if I can get one.

I've had the minor problems already with the cooling lines, I quickly fixed that one though with some Swagelock ® fittings

 This is something I've considered but would like to know how difficult is the conversion? Is it painful to install the clutch pedal, cut the floor and take care of all the other necessary mounting etc? Was the $3500 the cost for the trani or does that include all the other parts that need to be put in? Appreciate any input you can give me. Maybe one of these days I'll break down and do the same. What would be neat is if someone who has done this could list out the major steps and maybe a parts list too. Thanks again.

Auto transmission mis-shifts

I have 94 -2500 (built in Nov. '93) and have sporadic shifting

problems of down shifting on highway out of over drive and most recently not shifting up from second /third gear when going up hill

with no load. The only solution is to let off accelerator to about 35

mph and then give it gas. Dodge has replaced overdrive switch

and I have replaced worn throttle cable. I have not replaced TPS and

have idle set up to 800 rpm . Truck has 120K on it with occasional

light use of pulling trailer. I am looking at transmission work ?

Would appreciate any input email @ -- email address removed --
