Keeping in mind all the new sensitive electronics on the new trucks, I'm about to install a set of jumper cables with quick disconnect Anderson power pole plugs on the bumper.
1. Should I run the ground directly to the battery or should I go to a frame bolt?
2. Should I place a diode or fuse inline on the positive side to better protect the system?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Craig

I ran my ground to the big ground on the block.

I also put the hot thru a HD CD solenoid with a switch in the cab.

On my service truck I ran the ground cable to the frame. It was used on a few big rigs over the years without issue.I used heater hose over the cable as an added precaution against any unwanted welding even though I had used Many cable clamps bolted along the frame.Mounted sockets at both front and rear.

Most vehicles I maintain have whitaker type boost cable hookups. In HD spec, they're always taken off the starter motor as that serves as a the best binding post for both poles. In medium apps, a battery isolator is commonly used, especially if aux batteries are installed. The isolator offers good polarity protection.

I agree with the starter post being the absolute best place for the positive and the frame is the best place for the negative. No question.

I would go direct to the battery for both hookups with one double post battery for that conection even better. A bad ground can cause all types of back feed problems.
