Jason,

You can go to www.permatex.com and access the TDS (technical data sheet) for any of there products. I looked up there Ultra Grey RTV (IMO the better choice for Diff covers) and it states;

"TYPICAL CURING PERFORMANCE,

Permatex Ultra Gray Gasket Maker cures on exposure to

moisture in the air. The product dries tack free in one hour

and fully cures in 24 hours. Cure times will vary with

temperature, humidity and gap. "

(I think there calculations are based on room temp)

Just clean (degrease) the surfaces real good with brake cleaner first and you should have no problems.

Hope this helps,

John

Jason, I did my diff changes in weather around 40*F. I used the ultra grey RTV and filled as soon as the cover was tight. I did not allow for any cure time or tack time, just dumped in my Mobil 1 75w-90. I have not had even the slightest seep in the 50K or so that I have on the diff oil. I used a very thin coat on the entire sealing surface of the covers, JUST enough that it will squeeze out a tiny bit when the final torque is applied to the bolts. Make sure the cover sealing surface is good and flat and you should be home free.

Hope this helps.
