Petrified Forest

Anyone know if the road through the Petrified Forest is wide enough to stop along the way pulling a 27' trailer? I plan on camping at the Meteor City place to visit a few other spots, but want to travel with the trailer through the "Stone" forest on the way to Silver City, NM.

I pulled my 32ft 5th wheel thru there, but I don't think there are any facilities for camping in the park. They say don't take any stones from the park,(They are all over the ground where ever you stop) but they will sell you pieces of petrified wood at the exit store.

I guess that everything has a price. If you are headed south out of the park, make sure you have plenty of fuel, as the towns that are on the map, are literaly ghost towns. And the fuel is hard to come by, or at least it was in 2003. Thats why I now have a aux tank. :-laf There are many pull offs thru the park, and I thought it was interesting. Enjoy the trip.

Ironbutt, now that's a great name! Last time I was there was in the 50's before the signs telling not to take anything. Of course I didn't carry much, being about 5 or so. Thanks for the info.
