The "B" prefix refers to the compressor housing. I can't remember exactly what it stands for, but it refers to a slot or port cut around the intake tract leading to the compressor wheel. Forgive me, but its been about 6 months since this was explained to me (by HTT) and about 4 months since I looked at mine. This port or slot widens the useable range of the turbo, but sacrifices a little bit of efficiency, as I remember.
I don't think its a manufacturer-related issue. All the builders of the HT3B-type turbos may provide this option.
