Have just taken delivery on a my first diesel this week - a new 2004. 5 and am looking for TDR reader's recommendations on Phoenix area dealers for good service and knowledge on diesels. I am also considering buying an extended warranty and want to purchase one at the dealer I plan to use for most service.

I'm a longtime Chevy user and don't have any experience with Dodges. I sure like this one so far. BTY, mine came with the tape on the rocker panels and the rear end was about 1 1/2 pints low - just asked nicely for a fluid level check and they did it, not part of the normal predelivery prep. Ordered 1/12, went D1 on 1/14, left the plant on 1/31, reached the dealer 2/20.

Welcome,

Hope you enjoy the ride. I personally wouldn't purchase an extended warranty. It comes currently with the 7/70,000 mile warranty and you have a 7/100,000 mile warranty on the engine.

You would be better off putting the money in the bank, earn a little interest and spend it on something great when the time or mileage expires. I have purchased two extended warranties and they kept the money. Never used them, so they got to party on my money.

Great experience at Earnhardt's Dodge on 1301 N. Arizona Ave, Gilbert, AZ. I've been to many dealers and these guys try to please. BUT, ya gotta ask for Brian Sherer at 480-813-5549 as your service advisor. You can use my name as we have a very good relationship. Helped me bunches on my '96 and continues to be a help with my needs on my '02 3500. Ya gots to bring your own coffee while you're waiting as they just pulled their free stuff for the $3 a cup buy your own at their new coffee bar.

It took a while for Brian to understand some of us are more knowlegeable re our trucks than most owners that need routine service. He really has gone the extra mile for me.

I have had very good working relationship with the service and parts people at Tempe Dodge infact I traded in my '97 CTD that I bought there for a 2004 one. Ask for Gary Cox in service advisor he has been great at getting me in and taken care of.

What Ernie said. I too, use Brian Sherer at Earnfart's, oops, Earnhardt's Dodge in Gilbert. I've used him for 2 1/2 years and with our 2nd CTD in the family will use him with the new one too. He's plenty fair with working me in on short notice and with the "extra" go fast goodies I've installed. He's kinda a bit overhappy and zips here and zips there when he helps you, but a great guy nonetheless.

I haven't tried the new coffee bar though, I'll take Ernie's advice and bring my own. Who do they think they are? Starbucks?

Ive had good luck at Lou Grubb Dodge. Ask for Tim Hodder he works with you really well, Also Pete in parts can handle all your goodies you need. About the extended warranty I got it mostly to cover the electral end of the truck ECM PCM window motors and things like that. WILDMAN
