Trying to decide on which city to move to. Actually it'll only be for about a year or longer if i like the town. I'm planning on attending a tech school for motorcycle mechanics and they have schools in both these towns. So, i'm looking for comparisons between the 2 for part time jobs, apartments, fuel prices and things like that. Right now, i'm leaning towards phoenix. I'm planning on a move by the end of summer, so any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

I have lived in both places almost, I lived in Jacksonville which is an hour and a half north of Orlando. Cost of living will be cheaper in FL, and the weather is really nice in both places. I lived in Phoenix for a year and absolutely loved it. The office I was in was going under or I would not have left there. I wanted to stay in FL too, but a good wage is really hard to come by down there. FL will be cheaper, and the wage will be a tad lower, but overall I think FL is the better bet for lower overall costs. Good luck.

DStevenson, I went to MMI in Orlando but i went to the Marine Mechanics side, althought they are in the same building. Speaking from experience i was only 18 and fresh out of the house when i moved down there. Orlando is a great town, LOTS of stuff to do, great party town, lots of women:D and because its a tourist town lots of great concerts. Dont expect a great wage for work down there though, although MMI is good about getting you a job if you have a hard time finding one yourself, anywhere from a warehouse job to nightime work delivery man stuff. I was fortunate to get a job at a local marina, that put me ahead of most of my class in every aspect, however most of the MMI guys have a bad rep among local shops. Watch out for the cops... . they love giving DUI's down there, no tolerance policy for people under 21 :( . All in all Orlando is a nice upbeat town. Also forgot to mention there are lots of oppurtinitysgetting jobs at the local hotels, and they pay pretty good for the work load. Lots of good guys down there... . youll make friends for life. Also although you can get a place to live through them, shop around there are nicer apartments and cheaper places to live for a little longer drive to school. Hope this helps..... if you have any other questions PM me and ill give you my phone number and give you some tips. Aloha
