transmission

yes i bought a transmission from them but i bought totally stock for a first gen swap i did so far ive got over 10,000 miles on it and it shifts and runs great would i recommend them yes i sure would they have done great for me .

shorty :D

thanks i talked to a guy named frank there and he was very helpful and explained everything about the trannys to me and it sounded like there was a lot of upgraded parts that even the ats didnt come with. and the price was great 2300 with shipping

Phx Re , PhxRe transmissions. . (added that so the search tool would key in on the thread. )

I am about 20 minutes from buying one myself, just trying to locate a rebuildable core to avoid their $550 core charge. I will post some follow up details, pics, etc. Andre (at ext 26) mentioned they just pulled this same transmission out of a twin-turbo'd CTD & it's doing fine after 20k miles. . Told him I was shooting for the south side of 400 HP / 1000 ft-lbs & he said ". . no problem. . " well, all-right. . :)

Got my 887 pumped 12 valver, 2001 flexplate & all I need is a 47RH to begin the install!!! (repower project - 1989 Chevrolet Crew Cab. . ) I keep getting poorer and poorer as this project materializes!!!!

I've delt with Phoenix but that was for a manual for my trans. . I'd honestly be abit concerned their offering a transmission that can hold that much power for about $2000 less than anybody else and I don't think it's just because they handle a larger volume of trannys as their ad suggests.

Just my . 02

Do they offer billet shafts or any upgrades like that? Do they say how much HP they are supposed to be rated for, or did I miss it? I had seen them on ebay before, but just figured it was a not so good ebay transmission. You who buy them will have to keep us all informed on the progress and the likes dislikes.

Good Luck

In talking with some transmission "gurus" on the Dodge autos, the BIG money transmissions (that are bulletproof beyond 1200 ft lbs) are overkill for my personal goals. . This is my logic: That "extra" ~$3k saved is on the converter, tweaked valvebody, and expensive billet machined input / output shafts. The rest of the parts are over the counter components. The knowledge / capability / experience of putting transmissions together with the right steels, clutches, HD band, etc. are NOT black magic to anyone who carefully builds performance oriented automatic transmissions. If they (PhxRe) are CLEAR on what I'm gonna subject their transmission to, and they warranty it - I'll be covered. .

If it breaks, & they turn into the vendor from hell - my loss - but I'm gonna let the TDR world know about their product & hopefully that'll be the end of their business with the "informed" crowd. . #@$%! Think they wanna risk that. . ?? I am HOPING they'd rather build it right, back it up, and not leave me out in the cold if I do break it. . If it works - great! I'm gonna let the TDR world know how I drive it & what my feelings are on their product. If someone like myself is looking to save money with these guys, then they'll have another data point (good or bad) to consider. . If I burn $2k on this deal, it'll be a drop in the bucket compared to the $150k worth of bad advertising I'll unleash... :-laf

oooo. . I hit 69 posts with this one!!!!! uhhhh huhhuhhhuhh

Ya, i heard from 1 guy in the past that the PHo transmission place is a joke and your screwed on warranty claims... I personally hate 99. 9 percent of all transmission shops

it looks to good to be true. if you read at the bottom were they talk about dyno testing it says they use a gm 4. 3 v6  not even close to the to the hp or torq we can produce. just my 2

Jeeez Linc, you just had to let someone talk you into an auto.....

. . and a 12 valve'd, 215 pump'd engine... I wonder who that was. ?? :-laf

Anyway, transmission is on the way. . Autos were never designed to survive this much torque - but through expensive lessons & experimental methods, well. . they do. . This'll be a $2000 bargain for me, or a $7000 "lesson"... Won't cost you guys one red cent!!!!

I will let u guys on TDR know how things go. . My keyboard is gonna get greasy...

I think they just run it through the gears & make sure everything (TC lock up, line pressures, shift points, etc) is in working order before it ships. . I doubt they'd use it for durability testing. . ??

Was i the one that talked you into such a great engine? I think it would be fun to put a built turbo 400 or 727 behind the cummins with a GV overdrive. No BS electrical trans

or get over it and get a freaking stick

Would've been a 5 speed but just could not get a good enough deal on the transmission. . Started talking more about it with pwerwagn (he's the knucklehead prodding me on behind the scenes... ) & the 5 speed still needs a good clutch, 5th gear nut fix, then beefier input as you approach 400 HP, yada yada yada... My floorpan would've had to grow to fit the NV4500 (the truck is 2WD - low clearance floorpan Vs 4WD), & I still had to go install pedals. . the 47RH is about as mechanical as you can get (w/o going 5 speed) & if it's built right - should hold up just fine. . . . with a better OD ratio to boot... :D

i have had it in for about 4 months and the torque convertor went and trashed the whole unit. i have been without my truck now for a month. bought a triple disc, low stall billet convertor so hopefully i will not have any more problems
