I am on the trail of a 2000 IHC 4300 Lo Pro toter with the DT466E and suppose to be an MD 3060 Allison transmission. I know the 3060 series but the seller is saying it is a 5 speed transmission but can be upgraded at Allison for $500 for a computer flash to make it a double overdrive 6 speed. It has the usual push button key pad.



I have never heard of such a story. He did send me the model number and serial number on the trannie so I can call Allison in the morning.



Any of you ever heard of such a story?????????????

I found a PDF file operators manual on IRV2's website for a 99 no mention of a flash to change ratios.
When the Chrysler rfe trans came out it was a 5spd in the Grand Cherokee and 4 spd in the ram but it was not overdrive changes but different ratios in the lower # s. That was just software no mechanical changes as I recall

IIRC, the original Ford Torqshift 5-speed had a hidden ratio that could be accessed with a re-flash. The 1000 series used in the GMC is now a 6-speed where it was originally a 5 speed. I couldn't find any good info on Allison's web site, their specs seem to be a deep, dark secret.



In any case, that should be a nice truck, as it's near the end of the production run and will not have all the teething issues that the NGV had.

Yep, that was a feature at one time. I never had it done or used it since I always ordered the full 6-speed on much higher GVW trucks. I never sold a 4300Lo-Pro with a DT466E... it became available after I retired.
