I purchased this truck in early summer of this year and thought I'd post some photos of it finally.
I had been looking several years for the right Cummins and when I was offered this truck, I knew it was the one. I had previously a nicely fixed up 7.3 crew cab Super Duty with a 6 speed manual. The Super Duty is a great truck (IMO, the heaviest built in terms of strictly chassis and body platform) and plan to own another someday but having owned that truck I also learned that I did not like the performance of a diesel v8 combined with a standard trans. I am all about torque, particularly in the low end, and the v8 diesels (I've driven a ZF6 Duramax as well) have none of it in the low end. As soon as I would attach even my smaller sized unloaded cargo trailer, I could feel it behind the truck immediately going around town. With the Cummins, you don't at all until you really start putting some weight to it. The automatics work great of course with the v8 diesels but I've learned I don't like the performance characteristics of one with a standard trans.
What sold me on this truck was its rarity and how well it was setup. Being an older truck though, I did have to do some replacement of some seals and a few other things but I think it's going to be a good reliable truck for a long time. My mind rests more easy than it did even with the 7.3 as it's very simple. It couldn't be any more different to drive than the Ford either. While both most definitely have their pluses and minuses for sure, it is like driving a hot sports car in comparison, really. It is scary fast when you want it to be and nimble in a way the Ford never was either. It is a lot of fun to drive and is really dialed in.
