Well, the spouse has stained her last muscle getting in this truck... or so she says! Running boards to be installed soon!

After careful deliberation (and consultation with the spouse) we have decided on the Stainless Steel Master Boss Running Boards by Putco. http://www.putco.com/runningboards/masterboss.html (please ignore phord truck photo on page #ad
) Does anyone have a better photo of the step area of the board (one on the site not so good). Also, anyone that has installed these..... would love to have your opinion of them. Many thanks!!!

David

Only comment is to make sure they have quality mounting HW and can support lots of weight. I have seen some cheap boards with only a few brackets and it broke in no time. Glad it wasnt mine.

David,

I installed these exact boards you show on your link. They come with lots of hardware and support plenty of weight. However, the rear extenders are no-step pieces(just for looks-if you like it. ) The install went fairly smooth, but an extra set of hands sure would have helped! I put the cab boards on first, and thought they looked good just by themselves. Then I put the box boards on(which took a little getting used to for me), but I actually use them more than I thought I would. Lastly, the rear extenders and mud flaps went on(which I thought improved the look. ) Donn't know if its a good thing or a bad thing, but I have not seen these on any other dually in town - yet. I have however, talked to alot of people that liked them, until I told them the price. Dee Zee also makes similar boards to these. E-mail me if you want to know where I bought them, and how I saved an additional 20% off my purchase!! Good luck!!

Chris

David, I've got the Putco Boss rb's on my dually, been on 105K mi. now, and they are fine, I really like them. Putco is top of the line. I have the extensions also. My trk. is road only, they wouldn't be worth a darn in off roading.

I have the Dee Zee diamond plate running boards. Had them installed when the truck was new (95) and now have 106,000 miles on the truck. They still look like new and my wife who is verticaly challanged d(short) loves them. They are very stout and have held up very well. Cant remember what I paid for them but I did have them professionly installed. Just my 02cents worth.

Thanks to all that have replied! I appreciate your opinions and suggestions. Would still love to see closeups of the step area if anyone has them (aren't digital cameras wonderful... . wish I still had mine #ad
)

Chris, I was very glad to hear of your success. Thanks VERY much for telling me about the extenders. I didn't know they were "no step". I was not planning on ordering these anyway because I figure if I'm that close to the rear of the truck, I'll just go to the rear. However, I totally agree with the "improved look" statement. Really rounds out the truck! I'll send you that email you mentioned (much appreciated).

Many thanks,

David

Boss Boards

Dave, I have them on my 3500 and they are great. I just got run into and the boards did a heck of a job saving the truck. I lost the right side box board so I am now looking for a replacement. Just sent a email to putco to see if they would sell me just the right side. The cab board got hit aliittle but I tell you they are strong if installled properly. Good luck. Rob

Dave, Would Nerfs work for ya? I use em every day and I am no liteweight either. They are adjustable so they don't have to sit quite as high as I have them.
