I got me some 3" tubing and made me what I call side impact rails, these things are tough and I know a ricer would die if he hit me in the side, after I was done fabbing them up I had them painted with bed liner to match my rockers, I am much happier with my truck now, also notice my 19. 5x285 wheels with chrome trim ring and oem center caps.

Whatever you do, DO NOT put an air tap on them and pressurize them to 120 PSI... god forbid you are in an accident and they are crushed to 1/10 their original size, making them into a life-threatening device installed on your pickup for safety! :rolleyes:

In all seriousness, they look good! Can't beat redneck-ingenuity (sp?) when it comes to projects like that. You all should see the front bumper/grill gaurd on the Chevy I used to drive... it was nicknamed the "Elephant Gaurd" by people around home, and weighed 450 lbs before the winch. My Uncle had numerous requests to build more of them, but when people got a quote for almost $3,000 (materials being about 1/2 of that) they quickly backed out.

Wow, nice looking. Would you be able to post a side pic? I was thinking of taking off my old aluminum running boards and making something like those. What was the stock you made them out of, 3/16" X 3"round?

Its 3"x3" square tubing . 120 wall so they are pretty heavy, prolly weigh around 80lbs each.

Snowracer thanks for the heads up on NOT making them into an air receiver. :p

Hey Whitmore whats up with the image file not found I don't get any pictures to pop up of your ride with these new tubing side bars you made. I want to see them. :{ :{ :{ :mad: :{

OK, that was interesting, I redid my readers rig pics and deleted all those pics for larger ones and the no image found poped up, I think I got it fixed now???

Patent

Do you have a patent on those side impact rails?:D Fellows you are just gonna have to be patient for him to post pictures:( Cause you have to remember he is a confessed idiot(I think he was the first one to own up to it) so idiot and computer :-{} don't go together. :-laf :-laf :-laf We need close up pictures of those tires. If you can not do it get your wife---please.

Here is the only close up I have, it is showing the diff between the 19. 5/285 vs. the OEM 16/265

I will have to take a side pic today and see if I can get it posted.

Larry, I have no patent on them , I was hoping you would do that so you would have something to do on your off time besides bugging Sharon :D

Cheers, Kevin

OK finally got to see these things and the look cool but we need some up close pictures of them. Not you taking a picture of them from across the parking lot. Don't be scared you can get up close and take a picture for us Whitmore they wont bite you.

MIKE

You fellows are putting him under to much pressure. He will get:confused: and theres no telling what he will be taking pictures of and then his wife will take the camera away from him and he will start to:{ :{ :{ .

OK here is the best I could do, Schultz is right the pressure was tooooo much and I folded, when I do the side fiew they blend in with the black rockers and ya cant see squat so this will have to do :confused:
