Picked up a Monkey Wards mower

Any idea on the year?

Sorry to say but I found out what this thing is. I fired off an email to one of the online vintage garden tractor parts houses and it came back unanimously as an MTD Lawn-flite 5/26..... 5hp w/ 26" deck, which is exactly what this thing is.

Called it back in post #4 (patting myself on the back).

Any idea on the year?

The engine date is an 1985, but he chassis ID is unreadable. The person I got this from is 31 years old and the mower belonged to her grandpappy.

MTD stands for Modern Tool & Die. When I was in the OPE business we called them Made To Die:-laf Still a cool find!

I was a tractor nerd when i was young. I used to study the Sears, Montgomery Ward, etc. catalogs front to back when they would come in the mail.
