Picked up my Y2K Baby. Hometown, Stockton, Ca wouldn"t deal. Went to Wilsonville, Oregon-$100. 00 over invoice. Took a 15 hour ride on Amtrak-not much fun. Deal was painless. Drive home was good, 600 miles. The thing I noticed after owning a 92 and a 96, was that the cab noise was loud. I was wondering if it was because of no hood insulation? Do you think installing under the hood insulation pad that Dodge left out withthis model would reduce cab noise???? The ride was very stiff compared to my 96 one ton. Rancho 9000's will take care of that problem. Averaged 18 mpg at 65mph 300 miles in mountains and 300 miles flat land. Engine idle seem to be high and erratic at 850 rpm and tach fluctuates. How do I adjust idle lower???

Gary that is pretty good mpg for a brand new truck. As for cab noise I had a 96' too and I thought it was quieter in the cab on that truck than my new one,you get use to it though. As for the idel mine idle's at the same rpm as yours does,I dont think I would mess with itand for the tach needle, they all do it,it's the way the computer reads the tach signal. It uses sample reading technology, which causes the needle to bonce at idle,I wouldnt worry about that either:D Oh, welcome aboard:p John

Congrats on the truck,I too notice my 2000 is much louder in the cab than my 96 was,get used to it,the 24 transmits a lot more noise. The idle cannot be adjusted down, its controlled by the ECM,the tachs seem to fluctate on all the 24 valves,it seems like they arent linear, they have notches as they sweep up and down,it will bounce around at any rpm, when it gets on the border of the next higher,or lower notch. My 2000 also rides much firmer than my 96,but i went from the 155wb to the 139",so I expected it to be bouncier. Youir mileage is great ,better than mine.

That's good MPG for a new truck, heck, even for a used truck, but after 10,000 miles expect to gain about . 5-1. 5MPG.

Trying to adjust our idle will result in a Permanent Check Engine light (hard set code) and also immediate malfunction of the Throttle Positioon Sensor. Ask me how I know  :(
