Well after all the problems I had with the 2004. 5 "600" I finally worked out a deal with my dealer to get into a new truck.

Its a 2005 "610" 4x4 quad cab, long bed, 6 speed.

Things I have noticed so far with the new truck.

No drivetrain vibration.

After test driving 4 trucks, 2 auto, 2 6peed, one short and long box of each type I have narrowed it down to the transmission or converter that is causing the vibration. Good luck on getting that one fixed by DC. There is a TSB in the works that will tell the tech to try 5-6 different things, if that doesnt fix it then they will say its "inherant" with the truck and you will be stuck with it.

The TPS is mounted on the pedal. Gizmo under the hood is gone.

The lift pump is gone, must be in the tank.

Fuel mileage as of 200 miles is 17. 7, way up from the auto I just got rid of.

The rear end roar is non existant, this truck is very quiet.

The 6-speed is very light on the clutch compared to the 2001. 5 I had and shifts very smooth, for a heavy duty transmission.

The "600" had injector knock, new one doesnt.

I think this one is going to be a keeper. Very happy!!!

Congrats! I got my 2005 on 10/13 and she seems to be a keeper. Hand calc mileage is 16. xxx with average speed around 65mph. I am very happy as well. I currently have none of the problems that have been reported for 3rd gens... but I was very nervous about trading. See sig and congrats again.

ps I can't stop: Oo. :D

What the difference between a 04 and 05?

I am buying a 04 dually, 6 speed diesel turbo high output. Now what the difference then a 05?

610# torque instead of 600#. Lift pump in the tank instead of on the side of the block. Good if it lasts; really, really bad if it does not.

Is it a '04 or a 04. 5?
