I finished up my install of 2 5/8" Autometer Pro Comps and thought I'd share it with you people. I chose the 2 5/8" gages because they are nice a legible and they look like they belong in the interior of the truck - might paint the bezels black, I haven't decided yet. I didn't want an A-pillar pod, nor a dash pod, both I feel look too racy and stick out and up for the less than honest people to see. One of the pictures shows the frame that all the gages are suspended from, it's a bear to make, but the finished product is worth it. The only downside is the loss of the center cubby below the radio.

Eureka!

This is exactly what I have been looking for. I never use that cubby and it often just ends up full of trash. I have been trying to think of a way to make a plate to cover the hole but you have the idea.

Can you share how you made it and with what?

Thanks!

The light for the cubby was removed, no need to light it up now! The mounting system is 1/4" threaded rod that is suspended from holes in either side of the cubby. I used Autometer gauge cups and the hoops are included with them. The hoops are held in place with nylon insert locking nuts. Two more nuts on each end of the rod on the outside of the cubby center it in place. There are 4 per hoop - yes this is lots of tedious wrenching! I recommend leaving the threaded rod 2 inches long on one side, then chuck it in a reversible drill and run those nuts up and down the threaded rod that way. The hardware store stuff cost $10, but the gages set me back $290 delivered to the door from Summit Racing. They are mechanical by the way.
