Just got my truck back from Dodge. They installed the Jacobs Exhaust Brake. I have not got a chance to use it yet, but stay tuned!

What did they charge you? My dealer wants $1600. 00 instaled. I talked to my salseman to see if he could get me a better deal. $1549. 95 installed. Big deal a whole $ 50. 05 savings. I havn't made up my mind yet. I may go with the new pac brake. That way I'll have an air compressor & tank for air horns. I was only leaning towards the Jacobs for the dodge warrenty. I had a Banks exhaust brake in my 01 & loved it. Let us know how well it works.

I wonder why they didn't run the wire from the shift lever mounted switch down the shift lever, under the boot, and out under the dash? It would have made a neater looking installation.

I've installed PacBrakes on the NV5600. I ran the wire from the shift lever switch down along the shift lever, under the boot, under the plastic drink holder, and bring the wire out under the dash out of sight.

Does the red light on the shifter switch work? When I installed mine, the directions didn't show to hook up the wire for the light. However, the electrical schematic did show how.

the red light works while it is on.

i asked the same question about running the wire under the boot of the gear shift. the guy told me he would have to cut the wires and then splice them back together. can anyone tell me if it's true?

i paid $1,605. 00 installed.

They didn't come spliced to begin with. If the installer was worth a **** he/she would have routed it through the boot and out the console (like I did). Yes, they lied. Now isn't that a surprise?

I have my switch on the top side of the shifter so that I can reach it with my fingers. You might want to consider trurning it. I also ran the wires inside the boot.

Hahaha, that means he started at the wrong end... Start from the shift forward and it is easy to route thru the boot

And FWIW - full kit cost - $990 + 15% = $1158ish + install cost

Doesn't the jake interface with the ECM? My pacbrake interfaces with the ECM so whenever I am pulling I just turn on the brake and forget about it. Has a 3 second delay when you let up on the pedal, when cruise control is on it knows when to slow down the truck or cruise speeds it up. There isn't a reason (that I can see) to have the switch on the shifter lever. I can't believe an exhaust brake is not standard on the trucks. It is such an improvement and enhancement on safety. You will love having one.

The switch is an over ride to turn it off OFF - Without it, the truck could be unsafe on icy roads

the Mopar one has the same 3 second delay, and works at idle in park, But not in drive, etc
