Happy new year!
Just thought you might be interested in seeing these pics.
You can see my old turbo down pipe has changed color to dark brown. I don't know if this is normal, but I attribute it to the 3. 5" dia being too small and getting hot.
You can notice also that the new is mandrel bent and has much fewer bends than stock.
I also have a couple pics showing the old Magnaflow 36" muffler internals to the new MBRP 30" spiral wound interior. My opinion is this is a gimmick...
The new exhaust is SS and the muffler is polished SS. Its 4" from the turbo to the tailpipe. It also came with a 4 to 5" polished SS tip.
This is a very easy mod for anyone considering doing it. All the new pieces fit perfectly and the stock rubber hangers are reused.
The hardest part was getting the old system out. Use lots of WD-40 or CRC 556 at the turbo clamp and it will come off on its own.
If you are considering a new muffler, you should also consider this upgrade as now the truck has stainless and the new parts were only slightly more expensive than just the muffler installed at a muffler shop ($412 vs. 265)
I haven't towed yet with this mod, but just driving around it definately feels more responsive and its not really any louder than before until you get close to 2500 rpm.
I seriously considered the Magnaflow system as well and went with the MBRP because it had fewer pipes (3 vs. 4) and the positive comments from various aftermarket people about how nicely the MBRPs are fitting up.
Hope this helps anyone considering a new exhaust system.
Regards,
Louis
