I'm impressed. That's a good looking truck and bed. Good photo with beautiful scenery in the background also. You should send it on to Robin Patton for possible inclusion on the 2012 TDR calendar.

Is it a CM bed?

Here is a pic of the bed that might be alittle better, you are correct it is a CM

ER model. I had planned on using a Alumline skirted bed, but the drawback was mounting hitches to the frame and the truck came in much quicker than anticipated. Thank you for the kind words, now I wish I would have wiped it down before I took a pic.

Very NICE!!

PLefever,

I added a set of Laramie pickup chrome rub rails to the doors on my SLT quad cab and chassis. The chrome rubrails would dress your truck up a lot with that fancy ER bed.

The rub rails improve the plain doorsides of the cab and chassis and are not expensive to buy or difficult to add. They are adhesive backed with extremely high quality automotive grade adhesive tape. Once attached it would take crowbars to peel them off.

Thats a good idea on the doors, it needs a bit more lip stick and rouge, plan on changing the mudflaps to something slightly better, an aluminum transfer tank on the bed and an exhaust tip, but had not thought about the doors. Being in southern oklahoma I really need a bambi bar of some sort on the front but haven't found one I like yet

A six dollar pair of stick on deer whistles from Wal-Mart works extremely well against deer. Won't do much against wild hogs or other critters.

I was always skeptical about the effectiveness of deer whistles until I signed on with Horizon Transport to pull trailers in January '05. Horizon was giving out free deer whistles to any driver who would use them. I took a pair and began using them. It didn't take many trips to become absolutely certain they work. I haven't been without them on my truck, my wife's car, or my motorcycle since.

They work because the natural reaction of a deer to unknown threats is to stop, look, and listen then turn and escape. I have probably encountered a thousand or more deer since I began using deer whistles. They stop and watch from the roadside or turn and jump back over the fence and run into the woods.

Harvey, i always have wondered about the whistles. From my experience it also effects the horses and other livestock in trailers that you pull, or follow behind. If you're pulling a bull rack, or heading out to a horse show with your wagon in tow, i don't think they're a great idea.

just my 2 cents.

You may be absolutely correct. I don't own or transport horses or livestock and other than being able to recognize and correctly identify a horse, cow, sheep, or goat on the elementary school level I don't know anything about them.

I don't know if all animals possess the high frequency hearing capability in the audible range that the deer whistles create and deer react to. I have a female German Shepherd dog who has traveled with me everywhere, every day, for in excess of seven years and half a million miles. She has never shown signs of reacting to the deer whistles and I have never noticed other dogs pay attention to my arrival or passing.

Come to think about it, I have noticed cows turning and looking at me as I pass on a motorcycle but this was slow travel in very close proximity when they were free ranging on a backroad in the TX Hill Country.

Thank you seafish, if you scroll down on defiants website to custom order, then scroll to the bottom there is a F450, looks exactly like the one I just got rid of, the guard on that one is almost exactly what I had in mind, just enough to keep the coolers in place on impact but not so bulky or restrictive to reduce air. Some of my other trucks with the full bumper replacement have had temp issues.

Harvey, I think the deer whistles sure couldn't hurt, as for the horses, I've hauled mine from coast to coast and in my personal experience they never would hear anything but the howl of my 5" exhaust. They might actually hear something on the new truck, lol.

I have been fortunate to have never (knock on wood) impacted a critter but a really good set of fog lights helps also. At night I drive slower and keep an eye out, I've always feared hitting one on the Harley, don't see that working out well in any form.

I always figured they were a gimmick. But if you think they work I will give them a try cant hurt. I had a deere run straight into the side of my 93, that will rune your day.

I know a guy who has sworn by deer whistles for MANY years on ALL of his rigs, and yet this last year he has had TWO deer jump out in front of him and "ruin" his day in two different vehicles. He is a vegetarian too... too bad!!:-laf Certainly they are cheap and can't hurt, but whether they work or not is up in the air!!!

I put a Ranch Hand winch bumper on mine. The black bumper and black bed match pretty nicely. It is pretty bulky, but I like it. I'll try to post some pictures next time the truck is clean.

I always thought those were gimmicks too. I think I'll stick a pair on my truck straight away. Thanks for another good tip HB! :)
