Just installed this today. It's a Varad Racerboy shift knob. It controls up to four relays and each one can be programmed to switch on/off, momentary, or one second flash. Haven't had a chance to wire it up yet. I am still looking for some relays. It has a wire that runs down the shaft to a relay control box. I wrapped the shaft in some split loom I had lying around. I'll replace it with some new stuff so it looks better. I took the truck for a short test drive and there seems to be some plastic sounding vibration. It's not that loud at all, and I may just have to live with it. It's probably the switches in the top of the knob as the rest of the part is billet. If it works as advertised, I'll be pretty pleased with it.

Sure is cold on the hand though!

Cool!

What do you plan on controlling with that?

Would some of that sheath material they put over hoses look good on the shifter to cover the wires? There are all sorts of colors and styles.

I'm going to arm my White Knight backup lights with it. I don't want them on all the time when I'm backing up as they are pretty blinding.

I also want to wire in a marker light interrupt to flash the markers at someone who lets you into their lane.

Later, I will use another button for an exhaust brake

and lastly, if I can make it work, I want use one to control a power sliding rear window.

If I need more switches, I can always put one on the transfer case lever!:D

Cool, someone using one of these for it's intended purpose.

I was at the local Auto Zone one day checking out the various switches for a project I was working on. There was a ricer boy there as well and he was checking out one of these shift knobs. Said it was just what he needed. Asked him was he was going to control with all those switches and all I got was a blank look.

I was kinda wondering where he was going to get the electrical power to run 4 accessories, unless he was headed to the pet store next to pick up another hamster. :D :D :D

Apparently they make one that has no wires coming out of it and it will control a stereo that came with a remote control. I guess sometimes it's just too far to reach the extra six inches to the radio conrols:rolleyes:

This place was the cheapest by $10 that I found. $53. 00 plus shipping. Click on the e-shopping link near the top of the page and scroll down to Varad.

I just found a Bosch relay at Best Buy of all places. They had them in the installer shop out back. Simple on/off relay is $12 with the wiring harness
