How much is the stuff by the way?

Just a quick tip, buy "dynamat" from eBay and not Dynamat from Circuit City or a sound shop. The stuff on eBay is just as good, but about 1/3 of the price. It just doesnt have the word Dynomat plastered on the silver lining.

Suncoast - I'd be real careful using fatmat or brown bread etc. Those cheaper dynamat wannabee's lose their adhesion after a while in the heat, don't ask me how I know :) I also got real dynamat extreme from ebay, for a very reasonable price compared to retail - 36sq feet for $89. Pm me if you want the guy's info.

Congrats on starting a cool project. Maybe I'll get to see it sometime. Stop by if you see my truck parked at the 1st street bridge on the Manatee river with green jetskis... . I wanna see that new system!!

Check my reader's rigs for some dynamat pics. Looks like we underwent similar surgery to get the stuff on! ;)

I will keep a look out for your truck. I pass over that bridge everyday from Ellenton. The matting that is on the truck was actually somewhat there, sorry for the misleading. The guy I bought the truck from got it off eBay, but it was applied over 1. 5 years ago, so it obviously is holding. Appears to be good stuff. Everything else on the list though is being added by me.

This project started because I wanted to replace the head unit only. Then I realized I needed to replace the speakers to do this because of the factory infinity system, plus those speakers are crap compared to Kappa component speakers. Then one thing led to another and now I am adding a whole bunch of crap at once.

The alarm is because I currently have a Clifford 8000 and a Greddy turbo timer, but they dont like each other (from previous owner). I changing to a 2-way remote start alarm with integrated turbo timer. This way I can let it cool down and set the alarm and not have any issues with it.

Damn, someone has a good eye. That one is the old one. I now run a DTT Billet Shaft. I put it there to take to my shop, that was about 4 months ago. I never took it out, and now it kinda has become a conversation piece for anyone that rides in the truck. Stock = bad, Billet = good!

I've seen one or two of them shafts in my days...

As a matter of fact, I have one sitting on my desk here at work... along with a Mack E7-427 piston/wrist pin, Mitsubishi TD05-17G compressor wheel/turbine/shaft, some welding/plasma cutting 'coupons', and an input shaft out of a Bosch VP-44... . :-laf

There's no doubt to all the other computer geeks (like me... ) in this building who the gearhead is... . :D

I used brown bread, and all the stuff I lined the back of the cab with has slid down and is now bunched up behind the seat. It has been in about 2. 5 yrs. So it obviously does not last through the heat, cold etc. It left a big sticky mess on the rear cab. So that means I have another project to do. This time I will use the real Dynamat and see what happens.

Just to add, the sound was cut way down and it made a big difference, also the stereo sounded much deeper and no vibrating metal. Good luck.

I recommend using Dynamat xtreme, not original, its much better, and you'll only need 2 layers. Don't expect amazing results from one layer, spend the money, as you'll find out, you'll certainly be spending the hours and elbow grease getting the interior out and laying down the mat... it takes forever... mine took a whole weekend, about 18 hours of labor, to do just the back half of the truck and all the doors, see my readers rigs...

On a side note, I've had dynamat original and xtreme in vehicles since '95 and they have stayed on, without coming unglued. Be sure the area is totally clean, dry, and oil free before installing, and put some serious elbow grease into the roller! Have fun!
