Heres a picture of the new center console and bucket seats that are available for 2006. I had to skew it some to fit so the shape may look odd.

That cab suffers from HPE (Hard Plastic Everywhere) and no transition except that sore thumb also known as wood grain insert.

I wish Dodge wouldn't have gone away from the suede inserts in the center back of the leather driver's seats. If you had those nice dark gray inserts in those seats, that would definitely give a much better look to the cab.

They might have spent more money on NVH for '06, but they certainly didn't spend it on interior aesthetics.

That is one massive center console... but for some reason... aside from the nasty woodgrain which will be cured with a dash kit... I like it.

I'm with you Jon, loose the plastic woodgrain.

It's a selling point for women. "My purse will fit in there!" Believe it or not, my wife chose an Expedition over a Tahoe, and that was one of two main reasons. The other was the way the seats folded flat in the rear. Personally, I use mine as an armrest too. I like the low flat one in my 97.

That would be the front bucket seat option. The standard option is still the 60/40 seating with the traditional fold down/up center console and console under the seat cushion.

If you look at the photo, it appears that the center console is the same height as the arm rest on the door. I think it'll work fine. Besides, the console on our regular seats is probably about the same height (an inch or two lower at the most). And as Rosco mentioned in the original post, the image is not proportionately correct.

I have to agree with you completely. I like my 05 with the suede inserts much better.

I want a captain's chair option with fold down arm rests.

Exactly what my wife said a couple of days ago, I had to agree with her since we had them the the F***.

Wonder how that console will work out with the 6 speed?

Larry

I don't find it very apealing visually. I mean, look at the inside, and tell me that thing os designed to be there. I doesen't look like it. I just doesn't flow woth the rest of the interior. An, it doesn't look too padded. Not a real winner for long hours in the truck. My elbow hurts just looking at it.

that center council looks allot like our new grand cherokee. so on the outside the 06s look like a dakota and on the inside they look like a jeep!

That is just stupid high, what the heck?? Isn't the point of the center piece, folddown or whatnot, to have something to rest your arm on?? In my '94 Ram and the '03 Daky, I keep the fold down center console down to provide some nice elbow support. It is also the perfect height to hold hands with that special someone on. This new deal might work for Shaq, or if you put your arm on it with that special someone, you might get slapped for reaching too high on the lovely female body :-laf

In all seriousness, who the heck is designing these new and improved updates?? Damn, I was thinking today how cool it would be to build a '98. 5 12V Quad Cab; its getting more and more appealing all the time.

I wonder if I could swap in the 40/20/40 middle console to combine with the wood grain console? Should be the same width. Anyone know what the above pic offers for storage compared to the standard console and under seat storage?

I agree that it's higher than it needs to be. However, I ordered my truck with this option because I don't care to have my cupholders on the floor of the truck. Unfortunately with the Mega Cab you cannot get the foldout cupholders. This is due to the fact that the MC has HVAC vents in the rear of the truck and the ducting appears to run along the transmission tunnel. Therefore, you have to have the standard floor console or the big center console because they hide the ductwork.
