I put an NV4500/NP241DLD in my 1978 F250 Crew 4x4 Conversion - but can't see how to correctly/cleanly fabricate a bracket that goes from the transfer case to the frame on the driver's side.

This is probably only necessary in 4x4 to prevent rotation, but I don't really want to drive it much yet until I get that bracket in place. Anyone have a photo of this bracket - should be on the driver's side, go from the "lobe" of the xfer case over the driver's side frame.

The np241DHD's had this bracket bolted to the extension housing between the output of the auto transmission and the transfer case itself. Did the 5spd/DLD combo do the same thing?

Thanks folks,

jon.

Nv4500/241

I own a '91 chevy with a 350 that I put a NV4500 in. The 241 transfercase just hangs off the back, I will note that the bolts connecting the t-case to transmission came loose once with 5 tons of hay on my gooseneck. Not fun. I will also add that that 241 has 290,000 merciless miles on it. Keep the fluid clean!

My '97 is set up the same way.

Thanks guys, good info. I'll work on higher priority issues on my conversion for now. Interesting neither the chevy nor the dodge has an anti-rotation device in the 5spd. The auto from the 1997 I parted out has one, but when you consider how close to the "pivot point" the device was, It had very little leverage to do much.

The 1978 Ford Crew with a 400/np435 bolted from the frame to the xfer case, through an isolator (looked like a motor mount). It too was close to the pivot point, not sure what else it would help beyond what the cross-member support was already doing. I'll find out -Probably will not 3rd gear start 4wd on asphalt yet!

thanks guys,

jon
