Picture of crank

Anybody ever get a picture of cummins crankshaft/rods. I read a while back where some dealer had a display of crankshaft/rods of dodge,ford,chevy. Somebody was going to get a picture of them and post it. Still waiting for that picture so I can show the guys I work with that think so much of the light duty powerchoke. See what they have to say if we ever get some pictures. Who ever was going to do it was going to get one of those digital cameras.

That may have been me. I posted a while back that I was at Dishman Dodge in Spokane, getting a free oil change back in '96, and I saw a display kiosk in their showroom. They had the connecting rods for the Ford, GM, and Dodge diesels sitting there where one could pick them up and feel how heavy they were. What I should have done was ask if I could set all three rods on their copy machine and print out a page showing the sillohettes (sp. ) of them. It would be good for settling arguments about "which is the beefiest engine".

Yep I think that was you Andy. Any chance of getting some pictures?If not you there has to be somebody out there that has one of them cameras. I can just see them ford boys mouth hit the floor if they see those pictures. Thanks for the reply.

The only picture I have is in a brochure that compares the size difference of the Cummins, Powerstoke and the Ford 460. I don't know if this will work for you. If it would like I could attempt to post it after I get some time to warm-up the scanner. I must say the Cummins is much bigger and at an Cummins Open House I went to in KC I must say it is also alot heavier as well (must be all that mass).

Hey, Kat believe me I do know how to work a computer in fact at work I use a computer for 8 hours each day, but that is on AutoCad 2000 and besides I have posted pictures before on the forums.



The smoke is going pretty good especially after I got done towing my Jeep to Denver, CO yesterday and in that higher altitude the smoke is a little hard to not do because of the altitude. Maybe my EZ needs to be changed to setting #2 and not #3. I have still been having fun smoking people as I am really starting be good at doing it only if I need to get tailgaters off my butt. And no nobody has been flipping me off anymore, but I thing I better watch the smoking action in North Omaha or somebody may pull a gun on me.

I'm in Spokane every day, I will see if Dishman Dodge still has that display. If they do, I'll get some pictures and post them.

That was five years ago when I saw that display. I had only owned my truck a few weeks, and I didn't even know the TDR existed back then. Hopefully Big Bob can find out for us if they still have that display.

Also, I could swear I saw an article in the TDR a few years ago that made a comparison of the components of the big 3 diesels. Seems to me they listed the weights of each of the rods, the bearing diameters, etc. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

I called Dishman Dodge this morning 1 877-568-3363 and talked(done forget his name-knew I should of wrote it down)and he said they still have it. I think he said over on the west side. I guess I should of asked hime if they had one of those fancy cameras and could post picture so we can give those ford boys something to cackle about. But you know how it is when you get older sometimes you forget to ask questions. But it is still there. It's your move now Big Bob. We are depending on you.

This an excellent thing to do! Though we all know that the deal is, it's still good to see these parts together. How about pistons? I hear the PS jugs actually have cut skirts like a gasser. I do remember seeing in a mid '90's Dodge Ram brochure some parts comparisons touting the fact. The Ambulance company I worked for had a pre Power stoke rod bent in half laying around as a paperweight, and as a reminder.

After looking, holding and analyzing these rods, it is obvious which diesel engine is made with quality and design to work for an extended period of time! When you actually are able to handle, feel and see these rods in person, the Cummins rod is very impressive!
