Jarred: Water cooled center sections don't do anything for horsepower... about all they do is help the turbo to live longer since there's coolant flowing through it to help cool it down.

Timo is the man. He's an awesome fabricator and has one heck of a project going on over there in Finland.

For a guy looking to bust the 400hp barrier, and more importantly, control EGT's at WOT at elevation to utilize available power, can anyone chime in some opinions on these two big daddy single turbo setups?

If you talk to either company, they seem to be built for about the same setups and results. Of course, both will warn you not to buy the other guy's product, but that's just business.

With the exception of a #10 plate and 191dv's, which are on their way, my setup is listed below. I know every truck is different, but I'd like to get some homework done before I drop another $1600 on a turbo! I think both will move the air I need, just hoping for some more advice.

SIDEBAR: for you Californian's out there, J&H Performance is holding a dyno/drag weekend, 17-18 Sept up in Redding, CA. Stopped by the other day and told them I'd help get the word out. They're a small shop with alot of heart and two great guys that own it. They've been a ton of help for me, and I haven't even bought anything form them yet!

Hi Jarred,

I have a question about the twin air intake, I assume its from Banks? Is it a necessary item for increased performance or just better aid distribution?

My humble opinion, better distribution. The same amount of air is coming from the turbo as before, so when the pipe's full, you're pushing the same volume, just in a wider pattern. Better flow = lower EGT's though, and you do enough of those little air flow improvements and lower EGT's enough, you will see hp gains, in my opinion! I have no dyno numbers to prove any of this. My butt's been a pretty reliable dyno though! :-laf

Okay I just picked up a free reman HT60 off an N14 yesterday... .

how do I make this thing work?!? haha :-laf

really... what's the diff between an HT 60 and a HX 60 ?

... and is anyone running this guy on a twins setup? or am I totally barking up the wrong tree with this.

This excerpt from HT Turbos pretty much lays it out for ya:

"Just as adding more fuel or advancing timing further won’t offer performance gains at some point, installing too large a compressor won’t you offer any performance gain either. " :(

Right off their website, couldn't have said it better myself!

Garret ball-bearing turbos have been flawless with the testing I have seen first hand on a certin 11 second truck. They are running the GT40 on one truck that is doing 12's with no drugs, all diesel, and the 42 on another that does 11's with very little drugs. Both are VERY impressive, and spool VERY fast. I think the 38 is a tad too small for out application, but the 40 seems like a great turbo and would be the way to go.

I think one of JR's 55's with a ball bearing center would be the shizzle!! ;)
