Pier's Boost Fitting

Getting ready to install Pier's boost fitting. Do I need some Hi-Temp RV on it or anti-sieze? How about the thermocoupler, same question?

anti sieze

for sure on the thermocouple probe fitting. won't hurt any thing on the boost fitting, and may seal better.

Charlie I used anti-sieze on my pyro probe fitting which was 56,000 miles and 20 months ago. It has not rusted/siezed in place.



The boost fitting I didn't use anything, I've installed/removed it 4-5 times, no problems. If you are worried about sealage use Teflon tape.

I used Blue [removable] Lock Tite on the Piers fitting about a month ago, worked great. Didn't "seal" the thermo couple fitting with anything, works great. What is recommended and will withstand 1300- 1500 degrees ? When you get to a fuel pressure gauge seal those fittings! Have fun, Jim G.

I got Pier's fittting put in yesterday. Oo. One of the easiest installs I've done on my truck. I recommend it to anybody who will be installing a boost gauge. I wonder how long the Isspro 0-40 psi will last. Hopefully in my near future there is a EZ and DDII's. Then maybe the 0-50 psi.



Now if I can just get the nerve to drill and tap my thermocoupler. It's an Isspro w/ a 1/4" NPT. Can I put a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter on it? That way if I mess something up I can always drill it back out and re-tap.

Charlie, you are correct about that large 1\4 inch thermo-couple fitting, especially pre turbo . If available for your set-up I'd definitely get the 1\8 fitting. Take your time, drill a pilot hole first then 5\16 bit with grease to catch shavings, tap and clean up with a small magnet into manifold. You'll be surprised how "soft" the manifold is and how quickly you're done . It can be un-nerving drilling holes in a fairly new truck but you will love it all the more after you, personally modify it. Have fun, Jim G.

grease on the drill bit picks up all the shavings. I did it with mine and I dropped a light in the header to check for shavings and there were none.



I'd get a buddy who has done it before. I let my experienced friend do mine b/c I was too nervous. After watching it, I could have handled it, but nice to have an experienced hand do it.
