Have an Hy35 turbo in my 2001. 5 auto. Has anybody switched out their Hy for Piers HX? Does his HX come with everything needed to make the switch easy (relatively), Or do I have to buy wastegate parts?

Any info would be appreciated

Yep. . been there done that. Changing the turbo out was cake. The only problem that I had was with the manifold bolts. For some reason them suckers did not want to come off. I had to spray them with some penetrating fluid and take them off with a 15mm wrench. For the bottom one towards the firewall... I suggest a longer 15mm wrench then what normally comes with a tool setup.

Overall for the first time it took less then 1 hr. Just gotta make sure you take off all of the clamps. . and the oil hoses. . both top and bottom. Pretty self explanatory... . make sure you anti seize up the bolts before you put everything back together.

Give us a status after you do it. Just curious what you think.

been there...done that!!

This is a no-brainer. Being more than 11,000 miles away, i didn't want any "after the event" installation problems... . and I haven't.

Been there and done that too.....

Not a problem. The clocking was off just a bit, but a quick phone call to Piers (he told me how to clock it) and I was all ready to go in a short time.

The only real problem I had was actually bolting it to my truck. The HY has two studs on it and the other two are on the manifold. Piers turbo came with no studs and is ment to be bolted on. I had to run to the bolt drawer in my garage and find a couple of good bolts to fininsh the install. After that it was easy.

I have found that PB BLASTER catalyst works great for breaking rusted bolts loose. It has broken rusted bolts loose that you would swear would break. Most smaller auto parts stores carry it.

Just make sure you have the nozzle pointed in the right direction, the stuff doesn't taste good:rolleyes:
