Where to begin,

I have had the opportunity to drive a lot of truck combinations ranging from mild to wild.

We had exceed the limit of the hx35 , most of our testing showed that the hx35 was good to about 31lbs of boost.

Other opinions vary ranging from 28-34 lbs of boost regarding limitations of the hx35

I did not want an hx40 turbo in my truck , before you guys start on me , i have driven lots of trucks with the hx40 in them,

I find they have too much turbo lag, and so far have not proven to my satisfaction to be reliable.

When Piers approached me with this new turbo i was a little bit reluctant, he made a few claims i didnt quite believe, so i agreed to test it.

We were on our way to Muncie, so i thought it would be a good opportunity for Stefan and I to give it a good run.

Before we installed the turbo, we took our 89% out and put in the 93%.

I chose to test with the 93% converter as it is the tightest converter on the market. With Piers turbo the turbo lag is non -existant.

The boost is up by approx. 6lbs, it lowered the egts by over 150 degrees.

In the quarter mile before the turbo we were at

1400 plus, after the turbo in Muncie Indiana, we were at 1200.

That is with the edge hot box on level 111, the eze box and a set of dd11 injectors, while i do not promote this power combination we do use it for testing.

For the guys worried about smoke, this turbo does an excellent job clearing up that issue.

What i was looking for on behalf of my customers was the lower lower egt's and the spool up time .

This turbo is everything Piers claims it is, i think guys including Piers know that i say exactly what i mean,

Congratulations on your achievement Piers, this turbo is excellent, i wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to guys towing heavy or with hp under 400, or higher elevation trucks.

When Bill makes this kind of statement

we know it's gotta be #1 and when its been designed by Piers you know is going to be # 1

Man the men from the north are doing quite well and it could not happen to a nicer bunch of guys :)

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!

very nice

Another great product from Piers. What size is the exhaust housing? What size exhaust is on this truck from the turbo back? Thanks for the info, Sam.

Currently Bill K is running a 12cm2 housing on the turbo, though I am sending him a 14cm2 this week to test out. As far as Exhaust, Bill is running the stock exhaust pipes on the truck. He just removed the stock muffler and resonator and installed a Rhino Muffler. Boy does his truck drive nice... .

Great job on the turbo Piers!!

I'm not at all familiar with this turbo. Is it a hybrid, 35 housing and 40 impellor? Something all new? Give me a hint here.

Yes, it is a hybred model. I use a "censored" pinwheel on the compressor side & then machine out the cover to match the pinwheel. Each cover & pinwheel are matched together for maximum performance. One can run whatever size exhaust housing they want, allthough this turbo was designed for the guys towing and running 350hp or less & at that level I would recomend the 14 housing.

Thanks for the clearification Piers. Since you are monitoring this thread, have you tried the HX-50 or HX-55? Any luck? How much lag compared to stock? Compared to HX-40?

I keep hoping bill will join our ranks again. You got my hopes up by digging up these old posts. Until I looked at the post date. I miss bills posts.

Im getting me a new transmission soon cant wait til i get to feel a suped up 47rh. My slushbox is showing her age.

Today I was looking at a 8 year old magazine article for race-flites. They add bearings to all the spots were there would normally be metal to metal contact to lower rolling resistance. I hear it was quite successful. Lots of machining though wouldnt want to see the price tag on the finished product.

Are ANY vendors still around???

There USED to be several who posted.

Haven't seen one post in quite a while. :(

I guess the Flame Insurance was too expensive. :-{}
