Hey guys,

I'm looking to head north to piers to get some work done. I'm a bit uneasy about the mods and what to expect as a result.

I want to have a SB con-o clutch installed. I want a #10 plate installed and top it off with a 3000 GSK kit.

I'm a bit worried as to the potential wearing out of my truck as a result... ... do I need to worry? My goal is to improve my camper/boat hauler. The truck is not my daily driver.

The price tag is about $1,600 USD. Does that seem reasonable. Or should I just buy the parts and have a local GOOD shop do it? (save install costs)

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Tom

Piers will fine tune your truck like no one else can, well worth the extra drive and money.

As for wearing out your truck faster, it all depends on how you drive with all your new found power.

You couldn't put your truck in better hands from what I've read here. I couldn't find better prices anywhere when I bought my mods, just didn't have the time to drive it up there to have them put it together. As far as service and on the phone help they have been great.

Enjoy the drive.

Tom - Piers is at the top of his class. You won't go wrong by a visit. While you are there, even if you don't have a steering problem now, ask him about Darin's Bracelet (DSS). It has made a world of difference in my steering. Piers sells and installs I am told. Regards, Lynn

I make that at about $1100. in parts. What local GOOD shop will install a new clutch and work over your injection pump for $500. ?? Do you mean do it yourself?

Piers (et al) will do the work right and will never treat you disrespectfully if you have any question during or afterwards.

Just a thought...........

I was running a SB Con-O clutch (Dyna Max Clutch Kit

MU 0090 Con. O) in my truck, and it failed (nothing broke, just started slipping) at less than 3000 miles. SB Clutch (Peter) said that at my power level, and also due to the fact I am running 35" tires and a 3. 54 ratio, that I could not tow with that clutch. He suggested another clutch (Dyna Max Clutch Kit MU 13-1. 25 Con OFE) for my application, which has worked out great so far. He even sent me a new disk for my old clutch so I could sell it to recoup some of the expense for the new clutch. Great people, and really stand behind their product.

Anyway, you have stated that it's your tow rig, so you might check and see what clutch you are getting for that price. Better to get the right one the first time;)

FYI, http://www.southbendclutch.com/dodge.html is good reading.

PDR and Crew are THE Best - PERIOD. I just had the 3K GSK / #10 plate combo with PDR Super-Tune along with a DSS installed. Extremly pleased with the results of all.

You will not be disapointed and well worth your time to have PDR do the install and tuning. You will not believe the results and will be wondering... Why didn't I do this sooner. Prices are very fair and competitive and customer service and hospitality are Top Notch.

Let us know how you like it:D

Tom,

You might have a GOOD local shop, but I can almost promise they are not as good as PDR. :)

Tom,

I just got back from my 2nd visit to Piers. My 1st was about 4 years ago.

It takes me 2 days, 1 way, to get there. When I tell people I drive to Canada to get work done on the truck ... :-laf

The local Dodge dealers do the regular stuff, but when it comes to BOMB parts, I want a tested, trusted source.

Depends on what you want. If you want your truck in reliable, excellent hands, make the trip. All of Piers staff is top notch.

Warning though ... a ride in Piers truck ... :--) Now that's a fun ride. Twins & "PDR Supertuned" ... I'll leave the details for you to gather. :D

Me too, Piers and Louise are great people and you will leave happy. Crossing the border sucks big time. But it was worth it.

I would at least go with a CON OFE...

I have grenaded 2 CON OFE's, but I am sure you would not want to spend the extra cash on a 13" CON OFE, or CON FE... well worth the extra money... A Con O will slip very easily, with the mods you have stated you are going to do. spend the extra money, get more than what you will need, that way if need be, you can do more, and not have to worry about slippage later down the road. . trust me on this one. Peter from SBC can vouch. . Us folks down here in Texas tear the snot out of these clutches!!! Just my $. 02 worth.
