Piers is a great guy to work with and his stuff always works, I have one as well and it seems to work fine but for some reason I seem to always want more.

I agree. Allways wanting more... . I know how you feel. I think my truck is stock again  after driving with DD2s (thanks Piers) and a Comp box (Thanks Fred @ DDP)(cant go above level 3. need clutch  ) for a few weeks. This is very addictive  . Sam

We, Jannetty Racing Enterprises, Tested a Peirs turbo with 14cm housing.

This is as good as it gets for everyday use.

We really like this turbo.

It has the best of both worlds.

Everyone should keep in mind that Turbochargers are VERY Specific in application.

There is no magic turbo that can do it all!!

If you want low end power you give up top end and Visa Versa.

In my experience turbo chargers for the Cummins have about a 1000 rpm range that they are very good, so choose your evil.

Hx 35 12cm runs great 1200 to 2200 rpm

Hx 35 14cm runs great 1400 to 2400 rpm

Hx 35 16cm runs great 1600 to 2600 rpm

Hx 40 16cm runs great 1800 to 2800 rpm

Hx 40 18cm runs great 2200 to 3200 rpm

Piers turbo runs great 1400 to 2600 notice wider power band.

now I'm really gittin' the itch!

I just picked up my trick PDR turbo from Piers himself last Saturday. Right now I have it appart awaiting further aesthetic enhancements (can't leave nuthin' alone... :D).

..... can't wait to bolt that bad boy on! :D

How much did it lower your guys' exhaust temps? I can peg my gauge (1600) in a 1/4 and was looking at the Piers Turbo to help keep the temps down. I don't need it for pulling, just for that quick 1/4 or 1/2 mile drag. Ted, it's nice to see that another company will actually tell somebody that a compeditors product works well. You didn't have to say that and could have kept it to yourself. Just wanted to let you know it impressed me.

Question for Piers

Once thw HX35V is available, what would the cost be of modifying it like the "PDR" turbo. I think this would be the BOMB of all BOMBs for the stock to 400 HP crowd.

attention John

What would you think about jet-hot coating the turbo housing??

Any idea what it would cost?

What are you doing to yours... .

Thanks... . Joe

We have an on going commitment to test every part that hits the market and choose to carry the ones we like, we don't just base our product line on hear say or how much money we can make.

When we find something we like we will endorse it, support it and offer it to our customers.

So Ted,when you going to be selling the Piers turbo with the 14 housing?. Any clue as to a ballpark price. It sounds like the ticket for my truck. I dont want the big lag of the HX40/16,but need more airflow to keep my beast cool EGT wise.

Ted Jannetty my hat is off to you! A very reputable supplier and person! Wish you didn't live on the Eastern side.

I also have one of Piers turbos, 12 cm housing. I might be looking for a 14 cm housing. Anyone have one? Being I have the HX40 on now, and sold my downpipe for the HX35, I am patiently waiting for another downpipe. I will be getting a travel trailer soon and I'm tired of the slow spool-up of the HX40 (1700 rpms). I want more low end power with faster spool-up.

Joe, I have already modified my turbine housing... I ported and polished my Banks (Holset) 14cm&sup2 wastegated housing (which utilizes the Banks Big Head wastegate actuator). In addition, I had Perfomance Coatings, Inc. of Auburn, WA. ceramic coat both the inside and outside of the modified turbine housing with their matte black 2000 degree F. coating (at the same time I had them coat my modified 3-piece ATS exhaust manifold). Both of these components look really sweet!

Cost? The 3-pieces of the exhaust manifold and the turbine housing ran about $275. +/- (inc. tax).

The aluminum compressor housing however, is going to be finished in a different way... still to be determined (although I will know for sure Monday which way I will go). :D

..... I'm busy working on it right now :D

I've been selling Piers' turbo for a couple of months now, because it is a product that works, and works well.

What I have found is that the 12cm housing makes for a very fast spoolup, and the power is usuable from 1200 all the way up to 2600 RPM.

What I have also found is that the 14cm raises this to around 1400 to 2600 RPM, depending on the fueling. With an EZ this is more like 2600, with an EZ and Hot PE, this goes up to around 2800 RPM.

With just a Comp, it tapers back to 2600-2700 RPM.

What is key to note here is that EGT's are reduced with the 14cm, and the tradeoff of additional lag is worth it only with the SuperTurbo.

Also, 95% of my testing is in very hot climates, because that's where I live. I've got around 10,000 miles on the turbo, and it has been run daily throughout the summer in 90-118F outside temps. It has also seen one trip to Canada in July.

Just about every car maufacturer tests their new models in Arizona, because the heat can kill any vehicle.

And I can say Piers himself has tested in Arizona, because he was just here on his way to Texas. It was 102F the day he was here, and he was pulling his 5th wheel, too.
