Things not to do when installing twins.

OK, so I'm STILL researching twins options. (bear with me)

Everything I have seen so far points towards the Piers setup being the standard. Like, you have to work REALLY hard to do better, and even then, it might only be luck.

But I prefer non-Holset turbos. So I've looked at B1/B2 combos. B1/BB combos. DZ/ht3b combos. You name it.

It seems that turbo selection isn't easy, but it's a heck of a lot easier than finding the plumbing and supporting hardware.

Which all points back to this: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I'm afraid that by the time I tried to improve on something, I could have just bought the Piers setup.

Any thoughts?

I can see what you are saying but to play devils advocit. Wouldnt it be more rewarding/fun to build your own. As in alot of things in life its not the destination but the way there that is important. Just a thought. If I sound like a yahoo sorry I have a head cold that is messing me all up lol.

Building a set of twins would be fun and rewarding . . But if and when the twins go on my truck. . I like knowing that the issues have been solved. Issues like what works well with what and the outcome.

Mine will be a set of the PDR towing twins!...

I don't have the time or energy to re-invent the wheel. These guys like Piers have already done the R&D to come up with a twin turbo kit that bolts right in. That seems to be the logical way to go. Building my own would be fun, but I'd be lost.

Yeah I agree with you guys. I was just throwing that out there. If I ever do do twins I would go with a premade setup. Unless I have hit the lotto by then and have nothing else to do but play with the truck.

I have Pier's towing twins sitting in boxes in my family room. I'm having Doug at ADT install them along with the 5" exhaust. At first I was just going to stud the head, now, fire ring and go through It.

I'm with Rick on this,I'll pay extra for the R&D,I can't deal with too many "issues",at this time.

Hohn,if I could,(health wise),I still would have loved to do this my self. There sure is alot of good info out there, and alot of good people willing to answer questions,(like Doug). Dave
