Not sure how to start a letter like this, but here goes it.
As of May 1st I will be starting my own company. It is something I've always
wanted to do & at 42 I feel if I don't do it now, I never will.
Working for BD for the last 10 years I've learned a lot & made a lot of good
friends. I don't regret any of the time I've spent at BD, the company &
Brian have been very good to me & my family.

In my new company, PDR Inc. I will be specializing in Cummins upgrades &
conversions, with special emphasis on custom tuning to the customers needs.
I will be a dealer for BD, TST, DD, ATS & others & of course my own custom parts.
As of right now I'm still waiting for building permits, so the new shop will be a month or so away. I will be working out of a shop in the Abbotsford area & when I get my new phone # on Monday I'll post it here.
My e-mail for the time being is phops@telus.net
Thank you all for your
support over the years, looking forward to hearing from you.
Piers

Piers let me be the first one to congratulate you on the big step that you have taken. All the best in your new endeavour. I hope that you will continue dispensing good information to your fellow TDR members.
Good luck,

Good luck with your new venture! Being in the retail industry, the best advice I can give is to provide superior customer service! We have found that customers want good prices and good selection, but are willing to pay a small premium for outstanding customer service. Now, if you can provide great prices, great selection and great customer service, and still meet your bottom line goals, success will be assured. From what I've seen and experienced, providing that level of service won't be a problem for you.

Let me know when your shop is ready for business. I've got BOMBitis, and there is only one cure... ... #ad

Hey Piers, it's fine to work on the overvalved Rams, and even help them get real power #ad
but please tell us you have mended your ways and Scourge of the North will be piloting a perfectly, correctly, ideally valved truck #ad
Not a 24 valve Ram, or <gasp> a Drof #ad

12 valves forever!

Hey ya know what May first is Wednesday. I have that day free. Let me be your first customer.

If ya can't escape from the extra valves, maybe you can at least retrofit the thing with a proper (P7100) pump...

Congratulations Piers! I can't wait to check out your new shop. #ad

Excellent advice Scott although, I think Piers understands high quality customer service as it equates to happy, long term customers better than most.

Piers,

Some things that have served me well in all the years I’ve my owned transmission business was always keeping the customers best interest in mind when choosing & recommending products. While it is not always the most popular choice and sometimes not quite as profitable as it could have been, it really does go a long way for credibility and customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Considering the above, I need to know where you stand on a couple issues, as a BD dealer will you be selling and promoting the torque loc ? Will you be selling or recommending the pressure loc as a stand-alone product, as is the common practice by BD dealers? Do you intend to partake in the same dealer line? “If you use a torque loc in the red position for slow speeds , going around corners or sloping little hills it is ok. We both know that the torque converter clutch is just as vulnerable without centrifugal force within the torque converter at low rpms”

You and I saw first hand the numerous instances of mass transmission and tc destruction these products caused when used as advertised, ie trailer life magazine, tdr magazine, crank and chrome, where the end results were the customers were stuck paying for the bill out of their own pocket.

I realize that your name is respected in the diesel industry and that is especially why I owe it to my customers to find out your position before recommendation of you and your facility.

I make it no secret my feelings that the torque loc is one of the most destructive devices ever sold to the Dodge Diesel ram owners , and that the pressure loc as a stand alone product is a total waste of money .

I hate to put you in this position as I do consider you a friend and you are just starting out in your new endeavor, however my customers come first and you know I do not recommend anyone who sells or recommends the pressure loc as a stand alone product or usage of the torque loc in any way shape or form, and lets not forget the mystery switch as a means of transfering the cummins power to the ground.

This one of the hardest posts I have ever had to make as it appears to question your very integrity, please know it wasn’t done lightly, again I am sorry as I do consider you my friend.

Piers,

I also add my congrats to you in your new search for happiness and the ever elusive $$. I was one of the guys you met the other day when you did the tune up on the black truck with the new DTT stuff in it. I watched you work and do also think that you can do well. Just remember that Bill K says a lot in his post above to you. Bill's commitment to the truth may cost him a few sales. However, you and I know that when you buy from DTT you get all that you bargained for (and some extra). That is how you build repeat business and referrals. I have had my big truck alignment business for just over 4 years, and it only takes one guy that thinks you screwed him to hurt you. Previous to this business I had another self employment business and there again, Honesty and your word will either make you or break you.

I wish you well

Piers, Sounds like a winner. You are at the right age to to this. Have fun with it and you'll suceed!!!!

as lasebob states 1 happy customer will refer 100+ customers but 1 unhappy customer will cost you 1000 customers

I believe that Piers knows the drill and I hope he does agree with the torq-lok problem.
